Patch changes

  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2023-11-28): Fixed an issue causing Retribution Aura to fail to trigger from some abilities.
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2023-04-03): Fixed an issue causing Retribution Aura to trigger from incorrect amounts of incoming damage.
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2023-03-24): Fixed an issue causing Retribution Aura to sometimes fail to trigger.
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.7 (2023-03-21): Redesigned - When any party or raid member within 40 yards takes more than 30% of their health in damage in a single hit, each member gains 5% increased damage and healing, decaying over 30 seconds. This cannot occur within 30 seconds of the aura being applied.
    Old: When any party or raid member within 40 yards dies, you gain Avenging Wrath for 8 sec. When any party or raid member within 40 yards takes more than 50% of their health in damage in a single hit, you gain Seraphim for 4 sec. This cannot occur more than once every 30 sec.
  • Dragonflight Hotfix (2022-12-19): Fixed an issue causing Retribution Aura to sometimes trigger its cooldown without granting Seraphim.
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25):
    • Now also grants [Seraphim] for 4 seconds when any party or raid member within 40 yards takes more than 50% of their health in damage in a single hit.
    • Now granted by the row 2 [Auras of Swift Vengeance] class talent (was a level 38 ability). Rank 2 removed.
  • Shadowlands Patch 9.1.0 (2021-06-29): Fixed an issue that was preventing Retribution Aura from activating when a Holy Priest's [Spirit of Redemption] occurred.
  • Shadowlands Hotfix (2020-10-22): Now correctly extends an existing [Crusade] without resetting its stacks.
  • Shadowlands Patch 9.0.2 (2020-11-17): Rank 2 added at level 56: Duration increased by 4 seconds.
  • Shadowlands Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Now learned at level 38 (was 60). Now grants [Avenging Wrath] for 8 seconds instead of increasing damage dealt and reducing damage taken for 20 seconds.
  • Legion Patch 7.1.0 (2016-10-25): No longer ignores tanks (including self).
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Re-added and redesigned at level 60: When any party or raid member within 40 yards dies, you gain 20% increased damage done and 30% decreased damage taken for 20 sec.
    Old: Causes X Holy damage to any enemy that strikes a party or raid member within 40 yards. Players may only have one Aura on them per Paladin at any one time.
  • Mists of Pandaria Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Removed.
  • Wrath-Logo-Small.png Patch 3.3.0 (2009-12-08): It is no longer possible under some circumstances for the UI to display buffs from two different ranks of this ability.
  • Wrath-Logo-Small.png Hotfix (2009-05-22): The bonus damage from spell power on the Paladin ability Retribution Aura has been reduced by half. The threat generated by that damage has been doubled per point of damage to keep the threat generation about equal to before.
  • Wrath-Logo-Small.png Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): Damage increased and now gains damage based on Holy spell power.
  • WoW Icon update.png Patch 1.1.0 (2004-11-07): Moved to level 16.
  • Test-inline.png Patch 0.7 (2004-06-15): Damage slightly increased. Ranks available.
