It is as with Mannoroth's blood curse—a spiritual problem requires a spiritual solution.[1]

Purge is a shaman class talent that removes a "Magic" buff effect from one enemy target. It is similar to a priest's [Dispel Magic]. The spell will also be cast if a target is immune through some mechanism such as [Ice Block] or [Banish].

It is an exclusive choice node with [Greater Purge].

Notes

This ability should not be confused with the Purge spell from Warcraft III Shaman units; this spell does not slow the movement of the target nor inflict damage to summoned creatures.

Patch changes

  • Dragonflight Patch 10.1.5 (2023-07-11): Now costs 14% of base mana (was 10%).
  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 4 class talent (was a level 39 ability).
  • Shadowlands Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Now learned at level 39 (was 63).
  • Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.1.5 (2019-03-12): Mana cost reduced by 50%.
  • Legion Hotfix (2017-07-12): Mana cost has been reduced by 20%.
  • Legion Hotfix (2017-05-01): Mana cost reduced by 20%.
  • Legion Patch 7.1.0 (2016-10-25): Now learned at level 63 (was 58).
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Now learned at level 58 (was 12).
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): Now dispels a single effect instead of two.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Now removes 2 beneficial Magic effects, up from 1. Now costs 14% of base mana, up from 8% of base mana.
  • WoW Icon update.png Patch 1.9.0 (2006-01-03): Mana cost changed to a percentage of base mana.
  • WoW Icon update.png Patch 1.1.0 (2004-11-07): Removed facing requirement.
