The cinematic begins with a close-up of Sylvanas lying unconscious on a bench in Oribos. The scar she received from Frostmourne is exposed and glowing. Her eyes move slightly behind her eyelids, as though she's dreaming.
Uther: Sylvanas's soul has been fractured from the moment of her death... until now.
Uther stretches his hand toward the scar, which begins glowing brighter in response. A small tendril of Maw energy suddenly strikes out from the wound and connects with his finger as the camera cuts to black.
Banshee Queen Sylvanas: Burn it!
Images of night elves and buildings in flames during the Burning of Teldrassil flash by. A gentler version of Sylvanas' voice is heard.
Ranger-General Sylvanas: This was their home...
Sylvanas the Banshee Queen stands on the coast of Darkshore in front of the burning Teldrassil. Kneeling on the ground next to her—in the exact same position as Delaryn Summermoon during the real Burning of Teldrassil—is another version of Sylvanas, the way she appeared as a living Ranger-General.
Ranger-General Sylvanas: and you slaughtered all of them! How could you take all those innocent lives?
Banshee Queen Sylvanas: This was beyond life and death! There was no other path to true freedom. How can you not see that?
Ranger-General Sylvanas: I see what you are.
Images from Warbringers: Sylvanas flash by as the Ranger-General speaks: catapult projectiles striking Teldrassil...
Ranger-General Sylvanas: Murderer.
Sylvanas turning the dying Delaryn Summermoon's face toward Teldrassil...
Ranger-General Sylvanas: Monster.
More projectile impacts...
Ranger-General Sylvanas: Butcher!
The Ranger-General buries her face in her hands while the Banshee Queen stands by, impassive.
Ranger-General Sylvanas: Why can I not escape this torment?
A final few images from Warbringers: Sylvanas: Sylvanas' soul being turned into a snarling banshee after her death. Back in Oribos, Uther withdraws his hand and looks up at the people gathered in the chamber: Thrall, Jaina, Bolvar, and Baine.
Uther:The Jailer has severed their bond, and condemned her to endlessly relive her atrocities. So long as her soul remains divided, she cannot wake.
Baine: Maybe she shouldn't.
Bolvar: She's the only one who knows the Jailer's plan, and how we might save Anduin.
Bolvar looks at Jaina as he says the last part.
Jaina: She's the one that turned Anduin.
Thrall: Jaina is right. How can we possibly trust her?
Uther looks at Sylvanas.
Uther: Her wound runs so much deeper... than mine.
His eyes widen slightly as from a realization. He takes off his breastplate, revealing his own scar from Frostmourne. He takes hold of Sylvanas' right hand and lifts it to his chest. As her fingers touch the wound, it starts glowing brighter until the screen flashes to white and changes to a scene of the Ranger-General looking around in confusion at an empty human farm surrounded by peaceful woods. She turns around at the sound of approaching footsteps from Uther, the way he appeared as a living paladin.
Uther: Well met, Ranger-General.
Ranger-General Sylvanas: W-What is this? Who are you?
Uther: Someone who shared your fate, felled by the blade of the very same prince.
The Ranger-General's eyes widen in comprehension. She closes her eyes, and more images from Warbringers flash by of Arthas impaling Sylvanas with Frostmourne. She opens her eyes again.
Ranger-General Sylvanas: Arthas. I died trying to stop that monster, only to wake up haunted by one with my face.
Uther: That banshee... is you.
The Ranger-General shakes her head in disbelief.
Ranger-General Sylvanas: No. I cannot accept that.
Uther: Her path began where yours ended, and you've seen the decisions she made.
Ranger-General Sylvanas: Never in a thousand lifetimes would I betray everything I stood for! You can't possibly understand.
Uther sighs and closes his eyes. A vision of his kyrian form splits from that of the paladin, and the two Uthers stand side-by-side as the paladin addresses Sylvanas again.
Uther: The Jailer is deceptively cunning. When I realized I had become his pawn, it nearly destroyed me. He had no doubts it would destroy you as well. Was he right?
Uther stretches out his hand and changes the scene again, bringing the Ranger-General back to Darkshore during the Burning of Teldrassil. She looks up at the tree in horror while Uther stands some distance behind her.
Uther: Or will you accept her shattered legacy and tell us how to stop him?
The Ranger-General slowly turns back to Uther.
Ranger-General Sylvanas: Her crimes... are unforgiveable[sic].
Uther: Yes.
Ranger-General Sylvanas: And she...
An image of the Banshee Queen flashes by again.
Banshee Queen Sylvanas: Burn it!
The Ranger-General corrects herself.
Ranger-General Sylvanas: ...I must face the consequences.
Uther: We cannot change the past, and we may never find forgiveness in the future... but inaction damns us all. Time is short, Ranger-General. Make your choice.
The screen flashes to white and cuts back to Oribos, where Uther puts down Sylvanas' hand again.
Uther: I've done all I can.
In a mirror of Vol'jin's death scene, the camera looks down from above as Thrall and Baine leave the room, followed by Jaina and Bolvar, finally leaving only Uther by Sylvanas' side. The camera closes in on her face as her eyes suddenly open and the screen cuts to black.
