Maul is a Guardian druid Bear form attack. It is a rage dump, an attack designed to be used "when you have more Rage than you can spend."
Notes
Maul is not affected by the global cooldown.
Patch changes

Hotfix (2025-05-06): Now only displays on the Cooldown Manager when either
[Tooth and Claw] or
[Ravage] is known.
Patch 11.1.0 (2025-02-25): Damage reduced by 8%.
Patch 10.0.2 (2022-11-15): Damage increased by 40%.
Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 1 Guardian talent (was a level 10 Guardian ability).
Patch 8.2.0 (2019-06-25): Now costs 40 Rage (was 45).
Patch 7.2.5 (2017-06-13): Maul damage increased by 650%, cost increased to 45 Rage (was 20). Maul is now on the global cooldown, and has no self-cooldown (was 3 seconds). Maul damage not increased in PvP.
Patch 7.1.5 (2017-01-10): Now deals 400% damage in PvP (was 100%).
Hotfix (2016-08-16): Maul damage increased by 23%.
Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): No longer deals additional damage to bleeding targets. Damage increased by 12.5%.
Patch 6.0.2 (2014-10-14):
- Now available only to Guardian Druids at level 10 (was level 8 for all druids).
- Now costs 20 Rage (down from 30 Rage).
Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): Now learned at level 8 (was 15). Now deals 110% weapon damage, and causes an additional 20% damage against bleeding targets.
Patch 4.2.0 (2011-06-28): Base damage has been raised to 35, up from 8. Attack power scaling has been decreased to 19%, down from 26.4%.
Hotfix (2011-02-11): Damage has been increased by approximately 10%.
Patch 4.0.6 (2011-02-08): Now scales from 24% of Attack Power, down from 30%.
Hotfix (2010-11-23): The damage done by Maul has been reduced by approximately 17%.
Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Now learned from trainers at level 15 instead of from
[10] Body and Heart. No longer occurs on next melee attack. Now an instant attack with a 3 sec cooldown and costs 30 rage, up from 15.
Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): Maul ranks changed base damage. Threat modifier also was changed.
Patch 2.0.3 (2007-01-09): Maul has had its threat bonus multiplier changed to a flat value similar in threat per time to
[Heroic Strike].
