This article contains a list of Warcraft references in pop culture.
Games
- For a list of references from Blizzard's own franchises:
- Bitcoin Billionaire (appstore) — An achievement called "War of Worldcraft" is achieved by owning at least 50 Video Game Industries.
- Mass Effect — In the first mission on Eden Prime, Corporal Richard L. Jenkins dies in a cutscene because he rushes headfirst into a group of geth. (Video)
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine — There is a hidden spot where you see a sword which looks very much like Frostmourne and has "Arthas" engraved in it. (Video)
- Terraria — In patch 1.2.0, a new weapon called the Icemourne was added to the game, resembling Frostmourne. The weapon was later replaced in a new patch to avoid copyright infringement.
- Goat Simulator — The Goat MMO Simulator DLC includes many references to World of Warcraft itself.
- Some users may call it, World of GoatCraft.
- The Goatshire town is an reference to Goldshire in Elwynn Forest.
- The Goatwind city is an reference to Stormwind City in Elwynn Forest.
- The art style used for the map follows the Warcraft map style.
- The game contains five different classes; some related to Warcraft: Warrior, Rouge, and Hunter.
- Rouge is the word used by players who don't know how to spell Rogue.
- Level cap is 101, "1 level higher than you-know-what".
- Wyrmsun – An open source RTS game, heavily inspired by Warcraft II. Uses the Stratagus open source engine.
- War Wind – An RTS game, heavily inspired by Warcraft II.
- Kingdom Rush franchise – Includes many references in its games to Warcraft, one of which where clicking on critters will cause them to explode similar to the critters in Warcraft II and Warcraft III.
- There are several characters named after Warcraft characters. For example in Kingdom Rush Vengeance, "Joe Jenkins" with an achievement stating they are Leeroy Jenkins' brother, "Alleria Swiftwind" who are named after Alleria Windrunner, there are hero characters who resemble Warcraft characters such as "Mortemis" who looks like Gul'dan, a Naga, and possibly others.
- Life is Strange – In Episode 3, while Chloe is pick-locking the Principals office, Max will call Warren for assistance and tell him to "just bubble-hearth".
Movies
- Despicable Me 2 – Eduardo, in Epicus Maximus's fashion, is seen riding a shark rigged on top of a rocket. (Video)
- Level up
- One character always yells Leroy's famous battle cry before heading into battle.
- A subtle reference is that the character screen is just an edited version of the World of Warcraft character list.
- Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb – In London, Sir Lancelot asks Nick if he's ever used a sword, and Nick responds "Only in World of Warcraft."
- The Day the Earth Stood Still – In the scene when Helen is home with her son, he is sitting in his room playing.
- Wreck-It Ralph – On the train ride back from the villain support group, the word "Leerooooy" is written on the wall just below the "Pac-Man" signage.
- Zombieland – In the first part of the movie, you see Columbus playing World of Warcraft.
TV series
- How I Met Your Mother
- In Episode 6 of Season 3, Ted says he met a girl on the internet. It is later found that he met while her playing. At the end of the episode, an in-game clip in Stranglethorn Vale show a male draenei talking to and a human female, Ted is the human female. (Video)
- In Episode 19 of Season 4, Barney says "All right chums, let's do this!" then he goes out the door while yelling "Barneeey Stinsoooon!". (Video)
- How to Get Away with Murder – In Episode 8 of Season 2, Philip explains that he had a hacker alert set up because other gamers have tried to steal his conquest points because he had so many. Oliver clarifies it's World of Warcraft.
- Leverage – Harddisson and a mark exchange Horde solidarity in the offices of the corporate tower. (Video)
- Moonlight – In the season finale Logan attempts to run a van off the road while yelling "LEEEEROY JEEEENKINS!!" (Video)
- My Name is Earl – Earl jumps into an angry crowd while yelling "LEEEEROY JEEEENKINS!!" (Video)
- Nikita – In Episode 2 of Season 2 "Falling Ash", when Birkhoff and Alicia are discussing computer specs, Alicia mentions that she used to work IT, and knows her way "around Azeroth".
- South Park
- Episode 8 of season 10 of South Park is completely dedicated to World of Warcraft.

- Stargate Universe – Eli compares carrying Chole, who has been shot in the leg, to carrying a full pack over the Redridge Mountains to Stonard. (Video)

- Season 16, Episode 18: "HTTPete" - Joe Swanson brings up Leeroy Jenkins to do something like episode 14 again, but this time with beer.
- The Big Bang Theory
- In the pilot episode, Howard Wolowitz is seen playing for a short period of time. (Video)
- In Episode 4 of Season 4, Howard and Bernadette have a fight because she caught him having cybersex with a female troll under the "Bridge of Souls" (which turns out to be a male co-worker)
- In Episode 19 of Season 4, Sheldon's account has been hacked, and the whole plot revolves around the incident. (Video 1, Video 2)
- Supernatural
- In Episode 12 of Season 6, Sam is looking for terms such as fire, claws and gold. The results lead to World of Warcraft fansites.
- In Episode 13 of Season 8, Dean is interviewing a group of girls and one of them mentions "Necromancers" like from that "World of Whatever-Craft".
- Pure Pwnage
- Lucifer: Season 5, Episode 7 – When Chloe and Lucifer starts their new case, the first witness talks about Northrend and a plot that involves Arthas.
- American Dad!: Season 11, Episode 8 – Roger mentions that he gets paid in World of Warcraft gold for every recruit he sends to join the Chinese Army.
Shows
- Cow Chop - CCTV – Episode #32 took place at the Goldshire Inn.
Songs
- Lil Nas X – Promoting the new single, "Holiday", there was a tweet that featured Lil Nas X as a mage character on the character selection screen.[2]
- That's Outrageous!: Teenage Scream – The song name What Happens in Azeroth, Stays in Azeroth is an obvious reference to Azeroth.
