Harold Lane is a human part of Hemet Nesingwary's group of hunters. He can be found at the Nesingwary Safari in Nagrand and later in Borean Tundra near Lake Kum'uya.
History
The Burning Crusade
Lane appears to have been incapacitated by a scratch from one of the thorns native to Nagrand, his condition worsening as the player goes through the Talbuk Mastery quests, and suddenly (and suspiciously) becoming "better" upon the death of Bach'lor.
Wrath of the Lich King
Hemet Nesingwary's hunters have now journeyed to Northrend in search of bigger game. Angered by the reckless decimation of wildlife brought on by Hemet's hunters, the group D.E.H.T.A. has arisen in opposition.
Harold Lane, now styling himself "The Fur Baron" (and known to the druids as The Borean Butcher), can be found near the hunters' encampments along Lake Kum'uya in the Borean Tundra. He is the last of the major hunters in the Tundra to be hunted down and slain by players aiding D.E.H.T.A., in the quest [10-30] The Assassination of Harold Lane. While the quest is marked as a group quest, it can easily be soloed by anyone. You get a horn quest item which summons a herd of stampeding rhinos and mammoths who will run him over and take away a huge chunk of his HP.

- Nesingwary Safari gossip
There I was tumbling in a patch of prickly undergrowth with a albuk stag, hand-to-hand, only my sharp knife...<cough>... and keen hunter's intellect to save me.
All of a sudden I'm jumped by a pair of fierce windroc hunters that came at me from the skies! Their cowardly attack...<cough>... didn't help them any though.
And while I have their beaks as trophies, I received an infected scratch out of the ordeal. Kind of nasty, and I'm in a lot of pain, but I'm sure it'll heal up in a day or two.
When Cenarion Horn is used:
- You seek to deafen me? Pathetic... Wait... What's that sound?
Trivia
- He is a reference to the short-story The Snows of Kilimanjaro by Ernest Hemingway, whose name and works heavily influence much of the Nesingwary-related lore. His name is a slightly altered version of the protagonist's name, Harry (Harold) Street (Lane).
