Galadin is the younger twin brother of Giramar and is one of Rhonin and Vereesa's twin half-elf sons. They are both completely identical and share their father's red hair and mother's eyes.
History
War of the Ancients Trilogy
The twins were born in Year 25 ADP.[1] While their mother was pregnant their father was stuck 10,000 years in the past, but with the help of Nozdormu he managed to return home before they were born. Nozdormu also offered the children the friendship of the bronze dragonflight.[2]
While Giramar and Galadin were growing up, their cousin Arator, who their parents had taken in when his own parents went missing, served as a guide for them.[3]
Night of the Dragon
At some point at the beginning of the war against the Lich King, Zendarin unsuccessfully tried to kidnap him and his brother, thinking that the offspring of a high elf and a human wizard would be powerful. In response, his mother left to bring her cousin to justice and left the twins in the care of their father. When Rhonin left to find his wife, the twins were presumably in the care of Jalia, who was like a grandmother and second mother to them.[4]
Stormrage
After the War Against the Nightmare, Galadin, along with his family, attended the wedding of Malfurion Stormrage and Tyrande Whisperwind.[5]
Tides of War
Following the death of Rhonin and Jaina's appointment to lead the Kirin Tor, Galadin, his brother, and mother were present during the funeral service held in honor of the Kirin Tor's former leader.[6]
War Crimes
It was thinking of Galadin and his brother that prevented Vereesa from going through her initial plan of poisoning Garrosh and joining her sister in the Undercity. Vereesa, who hadn't spent as much time with her boys in recent years due to various events, left the trial and returned to Dalaran, vowing to never forsake her boys again. Honoring her promise, Vereesa spent time with her children by playing at the Dalaran fountain with them.[7]
Three Sisters
When Vereesa was going to meet with her sisters, Sylvanas and Alleria at Windrunner Spire, Giramar and Galadin expressed interest at the thought of being together as a family. However, Galadin began to argue with Giramar, accusing Sylvanas of being evil and now leading the people who killed their father. Giramar argued that you should not call other people evil or else they will show you how evil they can be. Vereesa broke up the fighting by reminding the twins that they were brothers and had to be each others' best ally.[3]
The War Within
Vereesa and her sons were not in Dalaran when it was destroyed by Xal'atath, because they had already moved away from the city several years prior.[8]
Blood Ties
When Turalyon and Alleria decided to finally get married, Giramar and Galadin attended their uncle and aunt's wedding. Upon arrival at the Nighthold, they excitedly tackled Arator.[9] Though the twins were both young adults now, they had no interest in the "old man talk" between the groomsmen prior the wedding, and chose instead to greet the guests as they arrived.[10]
Trivia
- His name may be a reference to Gil-Galad, the last high king of the elves in Middle-Earth from J.R.R. Tolkien's works.
- Galadin was first depicted visually in Three Sisters, 13 years after his introduction in The Sundering.
- As the twins were born in Year 25,[1] they would be 18 years old in Midnight.
