History

Gordawg and the rest of the elemental Furies were created from the body of Grond. After the demon lord Kil'jaeden empowered Gul'dan and made him the first warlock, Gordawg and the other Furies attacked the corrupted orc only to be bested by him and his fel magic and forced to retreat before they could be obliterated.[1]

Shortly before the Cataclysm, Thrall journeyed to Garadar to discover why the elements of Azeroth were so afraid. During this event, Thrall would communicate with Gordawg to see if the fury could enlighten him as to what was causing the elements of their fear. Though desiring to help Gordawg revealed that he couldn't help because he didn't know land. In response, Thrall gave him a small rock from Azeroth he had in possession. After consuming it Gordawg revealed that the elements were afraid of being shattered.[2]

This article or section includes speculation, observations or opinions possibly supported by lore or by Blizzard officials. It should not be taken as representing official lore.

In the ogre language, "Dawgar" (the ogre name for Draenor) translates to "The Known Earth", while "Gor" appears to mean "King" (inferred from Gorgog, "King Gog", and Goria, "Throne of the King"). Thus, "Gordawg" may mean "King of the earth" or something similar.
