Summary
Artwork by Chris Metzen.
Very early Khaz Modan and Lordaeron maps as seen in the The Art of Blizzard Entertainment book. It is possible to see several very interesting details considering it was originally a rough map for World of Warcraft.
- Quel'Thalas
- Quel'danas being identified as the "new elf hangout". In Lands of Conflict, blood elves were said to live there before World of Warcraft.
- A group of smaller, unnamed islands that could have been the Dragon Isles.
- Silver Moon, the "ex elf hangout", semi-burned.
- Eversong Woods was simply identified as "Quel'Thalas". A World Tree was supposed to be there, maybe the inspiration for Thas'alah.
- Zul'Aman had a place called "Ziggurat", like in Warcraft III maps, which was probably intended to be the Shrine of Ula'Tek. "Mud men" (golems) were apparently present on its eastern coast.
- Tirisfal Glades
- A lone "Cathedral" that presumably became the Scarlet Monastery.
- Undercity had a different name, "Necropolis".
- Several abandoned villages.
- Lordamere Lake
- A single area called the Plaguelands instead of having a western and eastern distinction. A "Lonely Church"/"Ruined Temple" area was planned, situated at approximately the same area as Stratholme in later concept maps.
- Alterac Mountains
- "Deliverence", an enigmatic zone at the same place as the Ruins of Alterac.
- A "Dark Portal", probably remains of the Demon Gate of the Blackrock clan.
- Darrowmere Lake
- Hillsbrad Foothills
- Dalaran, strangely far from Lordamere Lake.
- South Shore
- Tarren Mill
- Aerie Peaks, the old name of the Hinterlands.
- Arathi Highlands
- "Old rock wall"
- Stromgarde
- Dun Modr, being north of the Thandol Span, like in Warcraft II.
- An unknown zone on the eastern shore of the continent, with areas like "Frost Wood Village", the "Shattered Keep", a monastery, a Plague of Undeath area and a reference to The Island of Doctor Moreau.
- Zul'Dare
- Tol Barad, already being identified as a prison but still at the same place as in Warcraft II.
- Dun Morogh
- Wet Lands
- Dun Algaz, being south of the Thandol Span, again like in Warcraft II.
- "Ship wrecks"
- Grim Batol, said to be under goblin control.
- Loch Modan
- Bad Lands
- Burning Steppes
- Black Rock Spire
- What looks like a goblin observatory.
