Cysanz was an ancient proto-dragon and one of Vyranoth's supporters during the War of the Scaleborn.[1] He had been reluctant to join the Primalist cause, but as with many of the ancient proto-dragon holdouts he was swayed when word reached him that there was proof of the dragonflights stealing primal dragon eggs.[2]

During the War of the Scaleborn he fought at the Reach and at Algeth'ar Academy. When Vyranoth traveled to the Icebound Eye to duel with Alexstrasza she was accompanied by Cysanz and his Frostscales as her guard against any treachery the flights might enact; after Vyranoth's loss of the duel and subsequent imprisonment, Cysanz approached Alexstrasza to announce his defection from the Primalist cause. While Cysanz and his kin would never accept the burden of Order magic, he believed that Iridikron would lead the primal dragons to their doom without Vyranoth to temper his nature. In exchange for Alexstrasza's promise to leave the primal dragons in peace when the war ended, he swore he would help the dragonflights remove Iridikron from power.[3]

Cysanz and his Frostscales accompanied Alexstrasza and her retinue in their return to Thaldraszus, lifting the Primalist siege that Iridikron had brought upon the region. He aided Malygos in driving Warbringer Rava from Algeth'ar Academy, during which he killed her wingleaders.[4] He later on fought in the Battle of Harrowsdeep.[5]

After the war ended with Iridikron's imprisonment, Cysanz and Alexstrasza met at Wyrmrest Temple to discuss terms of peace between their people. The Incarnates would remain imprisoned for their crimes, and the primal dragons swear to not again raise wing or talon against the Broodlands — in exchange, the dragonflights would withdraw entirely from the Dragonwilds and would never again steal a primal egg from its nest. Cysanz also requested that Talinstrasz and the other drakes that had been encouraged to defect from the dragonflights would be granted pardons for their actions and allowed to fly free once more; a request that Alexstrasza fulfilled despite the uncertainty of the other Aspects.[6]
