Cristalstrasz was the leader of the red dragonflight's Ruby Flamebringers during the War of the Scaleborn, and was personally responsible for the deaths of countless Primalists. Fyrakk regarded him as a brute when he saw Cristalstrasz at the Battle of Flamesfall.

Cristalstrasz later accompanied Alexstrasza to the Icebound Eye to oversee her duel with Vyranoth. He was present in the Battle of Harrowsdeep.
