Jonathan Carevin, the head of the family.

“We battle against demons, the undead, and those who would provide them aid. Be vigilant, be wary, and trust none who would not give aid to our cause. Glory under the Light.”

Jonathan Carevin[1]

The Carevins are a human family living in Darkshire in Duskwood. They are monster hunters who dedicate themselves to battling the demons, undead, and feral worgen that plague the area. Master Jonathan Carevin is the head of the household;[2] other members are Elaine, Scott, and Benjamin. The family has a small group of followers and operate independently of the Night Watch. One of their supporters, Calor, joined Master Carevin after becoming disillusioned by the Watch's complacency.[3]

The Carevins' quest is to expel evil and heresy and keep the people of Darkshire safe.[3] They sometimes investigate townsfolk suspected of aiding the "enemies of the Light".[4] They and their supporters are few in number[5] and the family's influence is not large enough to root out the region's threats for good, but they do what they can to contain them. They accept any aid in their "war against evil",[6] although prospects need to prove that they can handle themselves in combat first.[3]

World of Warcraft

Jonathan Carevin instructed Calor to prioritize containing the numbers of feral worgen in Duskwood.[6] Calor sent adventurers who wanted to join the Carevins' cause to test their combat skills against the Nightbane pack in Brightwood Grove, the Rotting Orchard, and Roland's Doom, before formally recommending them to Jonathan.[7] Calor hoped that with a few more such recruits, the Carevin supporters could grow to outnumber the Night Watch and "complete the work that we few carry on today".[5]

On Clerk Daltry's suggestion, adventurers who were investigating the disappearance of Velinde Starsong and the Scythe of Elune sought out Jonathan due to his knowledge of worgen.[2] Although he didn't understand their motives, he agreed to help if it meant they'd help reduce the worgen's numbers. He directed them to Roland's Doom, where the worgen first appeared.[6]

The Carevins sent regular supplies to Sven Yorgen and Lars to aid them in their efforts against the necromancer Morbent Fel at Raven Hill.[8]

During the Veiled Hand cult's takeover of Darkshire, the Carevins could be seen cowering inside their home. Calor was one of the citizens killed by the cult.[12]
