Battlelord Gaardoun is a Broken warrior and a captain of the Ashtongue and the Servants of Illidan. He is accompanied by mystics, warriors, and stalkers.
History
During the mission of the Illidari demon hunters on Mardum, Battlelord Gaardoun led a group of his Ashtongue Broken to aid them on the mission. Illidan Stormrage himself gave Gaardoun a felsaber to present as a gift to the demon hunter in charge of the mission. The leader worked with Sevis Brightflame to activate a gateway in Illidari Foothold and summoned Gaardoun and his forces to Mardum. The Battlelord presented the felsaber to the leader and went on to establish a foothold by the volcano.[1] Kayn Sunfury discovered that mightiest of the Legion's forces were arrayed at the volcano, and sent the leader to brief Gaardoun about the demonic presence and to attack the enemies at the Doom Fortress.[2] As the Illidari were waging war upon the Brood Queen's Court and Inferno Peak areas, Gaardoun failed to report to Kayn, as he was captured by King Voras and some of his soldiers decimated. The leader killed Voras and freed Gaardoun.[3]
After the demon hunters returned to the Black Temple, Gaardoun and his forces remained on Mardum and fought the Legion reinforcements.[4] The remaining Illidari were also able to secure the Fel Hammer and held it for years to come.[5] As they were not present for Akama's rebellion against Illidan, they remained loyal to the Illidari. He and his forces were reunited with the demon hunters during the third invasion of the Burning Legion on the Fel Hammer. He pledged himself again to the Illidari cause.[6] He then showed the Slayer what his Broken had been guarding since they fought against the Legion - a nathrezim forge[4] and directed them to empower their weapon with it.[7] Later, as the invasion was progressing, Gaardoun and Lady S'theno were watching the Slayer and the rest of the Illidari. They had something of an outsider's perspective on things, which gave them a degree of objectivity. They had come to a unanimous recommendation: in order to keep the Illidari from splintering, the Slayer had to begin recruiting champions.[8] As such, he asked Asha Ravensong to fetch the Slayer back to the Fel Hammer[9] and asked to recruit first champions.[8] With the champions recruited, the Battlelord offered to recruit more Broken warriors for the cause. For that, he needed demonic implements from the Broken Shore, and the champions were sent to retrieve them with Kor'vas Bloodthorn overseeing the efforts.[10][11] The Slayer then told Gaardoun to begin recruiting and training new Ashtongue warriors,[12] and the Battlelord continued to do so for some time.[13] He was also seen instructing a squad of Illidari enforcers on the Fel Hammer.
