Objectives

Reflect on the Scrolls of Remembrance with Alexandros Mograine.

Description

This is the site of an ancient battle won by the previous Paragon of Courage. She sacrificed herself to serve the Shadowlands. I only hope my own end will prove as exemplary.

Many of my disciples meditate upon the scrolls here. With them, we remember the foundation of our courage.

Accompany Alexandros as he reflects on his shrines. Aid him in understanding where the source of his courage lies.

He will learn that this afterlife is not the one suited for him.

Notes

On accept, Alexandros starts following the player:

Inv sword 1h maldraxxusquest b 01.png Mograine's Justice — Mograine accompanies you.
Xandria says: Meditate on these scrolls, Alexandros. Glean the source of your courage. The reason we are not alike.
Alexandros Mograine says: The Light has always been my courage. But... I will see what these scrolls reveal.

Follow the path southeast to the marked Scroll of Remembrance. Use the bonus ability to summon the first of Alexandros's Burdens, a vision of Elena Mograine:

Spell holy greaterheal.png Reflect 20 yd range — Reflect with Alexandros. Instant
Alexandros Mograine says: Is that... Elena? My love... My light...
Alexandros Mograine says: She is still as radiant as when I last held her... To think she'd be forgotten if I...
Alexandros Mograine says: Forgive me, <name>. Let us continue onward.

Southwest to the next burden, Renault. A few seconds after the vision of Renault appears, two small, hostile Alexandros's Burdens spawn and attack the player.

Alexandros Mograine says: Renault. My eldest... my demise.
Alexandros Mograine says: His betrayal haunts me, even in death. My son... Would this pain be best forgotten?
Alexandros Mograine says: Please... let us move on.

North to the last:

Alexandros Mograine says: Darion... you died to free me from the Scourge... and still you stand in defense of Azeroth!
Alexandros Mograine says: I will never forget your sacrifice... Never!
Alexandros's Burden says: Father...?

The vision of Darion disappears and is replaced by a hostile burden. Defeat it:

Alexandros Mograine says: My beloved son... I am so proud of you... and nothing will ever take that from me.
Alexandros Mograine says: I... believe I understand now. Let us return to the Paragon.

Return to Xandria:

Xandria says: Do you understand now, Alexandros?

Trivia

  • Much like N [53-60] Hope Never Dies, this quest's title is an allusion to the Ashbringer comic. In the first issue, Death is Contagious, Alexandros tells Darion: "I love you, son. With all that I am... All I was... All I ever will be." In the final issue, Dust to Dust, Alexandros' soul repeats these words to Darion just after the latter stabs himself with the Ashbringer to free his father's spirit.
