Volunteer City Guard is a buff during Volunteer Guard Day. Once players start killing invaders, they receive a 24-hour buff granting them a temporary title. The title changes based on the number of kills achieved:
- Defender of <City>: 10 kills
- Heroic Defender of <City>: 50 kills
- Mythic Defender of <City>: 250 kills
Alliance players can receive this buff in Stormwind, Ironforge, Darnassus, the Exodar, and Stormshield.
Horde players can receive this buff in Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, Undercity, Silvermoon, and Warspear.
