Vials are a type of crafting reagent that can be purchased mostly from trade goods vendors and alchemy suppliers.

Uses

Vials' primary use is in alchemy; they're needed for a large number of alchemical recipes, including recipes for potions, elixirs, flasks, and oils.

The enchanting profession uses vials in recipes for wizard oils and mana oils.

In Classic, rogues use vials to create poisons.

Notes

  • A number of non-reagent vials (and phials) also exist. Most of these are quest items.

Patch changes

  • Cata-Logo-Small.png Patch 4.0.3a (2010-11-23): Alchemy recipes now require  [Crystal Vial]s. Deathwing broke all the others because he's mean (or because he didn't want alchemists to carry 5 different vials around with them).
  • Wrath-Logo-Small.png Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): No longer used to craft poisons.
