According to the The Schools of Arcane Magic - Enchantment, Enchanting is apparently a branch of arcane magic (with the entire blood elf race even gaining a racial passive bonus to the skill), which the night elves have long eschewed before the Shen'dralar's return, and yet Vaean and Taladan have existed in-game long before the Cataclysm. Taladan is apparently speaking with interest with Aladrel, one of the Highborne and a former arcane reforger (whose skills the Highborne originally introduced to the Alliance), which further makes it unclear as to whether he genuinely studied arcane magic, and why the night elves tolerated an Enchanting trainer in their capital.
