Fanfic?

Are there references for this information? I cannot find this info in any of my books. I'm also curious why there is a screenshot of Sam Steamwheedle when I cannot find him using a model viewer. If this is a fan-fiction page, it should be labelled as so.

To quote my friend Xaran Alamas, its "Bullshit". Its fanfiction plain and simple. I'll remove the refrence to this from the Steamwheedle cartel page, but I dunno what the policy about fanfiction is here. Can someone go find out? --Mecheon 06:05, 19 August 2006 (EDT)

The policy is that fan fiction is allowed, but it must be clearly labelled with {{fanfic}}, and NOT linked from actual lore as if it was relevant. Having said that, I myself have no idea whatsoever what this page is. (Though the screenshot is .. um.. yeah..)   --Mikk 06:56, 19 August 2006 (EDT)
Actually, there might be something in the RPG manuals, at least Undermine seems to suggest so. (Damnit, these things need to have sources cited better). The RPG books are considered official sources of lore as they're under Metzen's supervision --Mikk 07:04, 19 August 2006 (EDT)
I wouldn't put it past Warcraft lore to have such a character. I mean, it sounds pretty plausible at the moment, though of course we don't EXACTLY have official information on this. Pzychotix 09:39, 19 August 2006 (EDT)
There's nothing about it in Lands of Mystery, and that deals with the Undermine. I could poke Xaran to poke Metzen about it, Xaran being the one and same Xarantaur from the European forums, but generally I'm thinking its completely non-canonical fanfiction made by someone. Considering I also saw the link on the Cartel page was added by the same person who made this page, I'm figuring he did it, and a prelim ask on Xaran did get him to blurt out "bullshit" before he barely even looked at the page, so I'm with Xaran on this. --Mecheon 04:52, 20 August 2006 (EDT)
Still though, Yanik Venture actually IS mentioned in Blizzard lore. Even if it's bullshit, it's quite cleverly made up - although Ratchet was actually build by the Venture Company (see WoW: The RPG).

I've now slapped a {{fanfic}} tag on this and removed all other categories from the article. The factual error about Ratchet taken together with the bogus screenshot is enough to earn it that until proven otherwise. Can someone scan other changes done by this author? --Mikk 05:40, 20 August 2006 (EDT)

Also removed the following links to the page:

(Someone else already removed a Steamwheedle Cartel link to this article I think) --Mikk 05:50, 20 August 2006 (EDT)

Sam Steamwheedle sounds like a 40s detective to me :) -- Kirkburn 15:07, 20 August 2006 (EDT)
Quick search around showed the person who made the article as one Nuge16 (talk · contr) who may or may not have another name, but appeared to have made the same fanfiction style mistake twice. Hasn't been around for a while by the look of things though. And I was the one who removed the Cartel link --Mecheon 02:22, 22 August 2006 (EDT)

Nuge, I'm afraid, still wins.

Steamwheedle Sam --Tinkerer 13:40, 10 November 2006 (EST)

How? Name is backwards, wrong look, wrong occupation, wrong world :-P   --Mikk (T) 11:48, 11 November 2006 (EST)
It's still a reference - although not major, Blizzard HAS noted :) --Tinkerer 13:10, 11 November 2006 (EST)

but not realy

Steamwhedle sam is a lowly arena promoter not the very founder of steamwhedle cartel so this page is still ....{pause}bullshit (said realy fast)Scorpx2 20:53, 2 May 2007 (EDT)scorpx2
