Aru'mon was once the commanding officer of the Darkspear Axe Throwers during the Horde's campaign against the Lich King. The events that transpired at Angrathar the Wrathgate would prove catastrophic to his own life. After Putress' betrayal, many survivors panicked and ran away into the arctic wilderness in Northrend. So was the case of Aru'mon. Losing the grip of his own thoughts and actions, he hid within a Magnataur cave. He miraculously evaded capture and managed to endure the hardships of the land. But of course, everything has it's final end, including Aru'Mon. He was discovered by undead drakkari and brought in front of the Lich King. Just the same way the Immolated Champion resisted the Lich King's influence. Seeing potential in his new progeny, he used his powers to transform Aru'mon into a vile creature of undeath. He became a private agent working directly for the Lich King himself. His service, however, was short-lived due to Arthas' defeat at the hands of the Ashen Verdict. His death released many undead minions from his iron grip. Bolvar Fordragon's rise as the new Lich King signaled the end of Scourge hostilities. These minions of the Scourge were then left "unemployed" and some joined the Forsaken while a handful rested well within Icecrown's boundaries. Seeing no other reason to stay alive, Aru'mon remained fiercely loyal to his new master. The Lich King later sent three ambassadors of the Scourge to the capital cities of the Horde and Alliance. In addition to these ambassadors, Aru'mon was secretly deployed to these lands to continue spying on the living. Along his journey across Azeroth, he encountered the future threat to their world. The Twilight's Hammer cult. The Lich King showed empathy towards the living races and resolved into joining forces with the Forsaken to end the threat of the cultists. Aru'mon was considered a trigger to these events...
