Cleansing of the Nexus is a scenario in the Spider Kingdom.
Background
- Aid the blue dragonflight in purging the Malevolence from Northrend's ley lines!
The blue dragonflight and the Kirin Tor have been working ceaselessly across all of Northrend to repair the damage to the land's ley line network, inflicted by Malygos in his mad Nexus War. All the while their efforts were hampered by the Malevolence, an evil entity that has haunted the ley lines since the Cataclysm. Now, the blue dragonflight is ready to purge the Malevolence from the ley line network and banish it from Azeroth forever. They have called upon their allies in the Alliance and the Horde to protect them as they begin the ritual.

Stage guide
Stage 1: Prepare for the Purging
- Prepare to purge the Malevolence alongside Madragos.
- Madra yells: Champion! Welcome! You arrived at a most auspicious time!
- Madra yells: Thanks to our allies in the Kirin Tor, and your efforts assisting my flight, we are finally prepared to bring an end to this conflict!
- Madra yells: With the restoration of the Oculus in its final stage, we stand ready to purge the Malevolence from the ley line network of Northrend!
- Madra yells: Lord Kalecgos is preparing in the Chamber of the Eye. We need only secure the three Oculus rings into their final alignment out here.
- Madra yells: We must remain on guard, however. This is the last chance for the Malevolence to counter-attack us! Speak to me when you are ready to begin.
Stage 2: The North-Eastern Oculus Ring
- Secure the North-Eastern Oculus Ring for the Ritual.
- Madra yells: The North-Eastern Oculus Ring is in position! Travel to it at once and secure it for the ritual!
- The blue dragonflight forces begin securing the Oculus Ring.
- Madra yells: With the Oculus restored, we can purge the Malevolence from the ley lines once and for all!
- You feel a dark presence radiating from within the Nexus. Entities of pure malice begin emerging from the ley lines.
- Voice of the Malevolence yells: I... see... you...
- Madra yells: The Malevolence is attacking! Everyone, defend yourselves! Protect the Oculus ring!
- The Oculus Ring locks into its final position.
- Madra yells: The Oculus Ring is in alignment! Proceed to the next ring at once!
Stage 3: The North-Western Oculus Ring
- Secure the North-Western Oculus Ring for the Ritual.
- Madra yells: The North-Eastern Oculus Ring is in position! Travel to it at once and secure it for the ritual!
- The blue dragonflight forces begin securing the Oculus Ring.
- Madra yells: Remain on guard! The Malevolence could attack at any moment!
- You feel a dark presence radiating from within the Nexus. Entities of pure malice begin emerging from the ley lines.
- Voice of the Malevolence yells: I am... without... limits...
- Madra yells: The Malevolence is attacking! Everyone, defend yourselves! Protect the Oculus ring!
- The Oculus Ring locks into its final position.
- Madra yells: The second ring is in alignment! We are nearly ready!
Stage 4: The Southern Oculus Ring
- Secure the Southern Oculus Ring for the Ritual.
- Madra yells: The North-Eastern Oculus Ring is in position! Travel to it at once and secure it for the ritual!
- The blue dragonflight forces begin securing the Oculus Ring.
- Madra yells: The moment of victory is at hand! Do not falter!
- You feel a dark presence radiating from within the Nexus. Entities of pure malice begin emerging from the ley lines.
- Voice of the Malevolence yells: I... will... rise...
- Madra yells: The Malevolence is attacking! Everyone, defend yourselves! Protect the Oculus ring!
- The Oculus Ring locks into its final position.
- Madra yells: The Oculus is in full alignment! Lord Kalecgos is beginning the ritual of cleansing! To the top of the Nexus, at once!
- Voice of the Malevolence yells: Lesser... beings... You will... not stop me...
Stage 5: The Mad Thaumaturgist
- Repel the assault of the Malevolent Thaumaturgist Fin'zanel.
- Raw energy thrums through the Nexus, drawing the Malevolence out of the ley lines.
- Madra yells: It begins! The Nexus will be free from the Malevolence at last!
- Voice of the Malevolence yells: Nnooo... I am... hatred... itself...
- Madra yells: The presence is leaving the Nexus! The ley line alignment is holding fast!
- Energy pours out of the Nexus, causing the Oculus to shudder.
- Voice of the Malevolence yells: I will not vanish... I will not... relinquish... my hatred!
- Madra yells: The ley lines are strained to their limit! Hold fast! The slightest instability will spell disaster at this juncture!
- Fin'zanel yells: Ohohoho! What are these worms doing stifling the might of my master?!
- Madra yells: What in Malygos' name...?!
- Malevolent Thaumaturgist Fin'zanel suddenly appears atop undead twilight drakes, alongside renegade Twilight Cult forces.
- Fin'zanel yells: For weeks now I have been communing with the master, our new god, imprisoned within the ley lines of this wretched, chilly land!
- Fin'zanel yells: My dear sister died to prepare the way for him! Now I shall finish what she began, and usher the master into this world!
- Madra yells: Stop that buffoon before he ruins everything!
Final Stage: Madra the Malevolent
- Defeat Madra to free him from the influence of the Malevolence.
- Fin'zanel falls back under your assault.
- Fin'zanel yells: Ooh! Such a boorish onslaught! I will put an end to this, by tapping into the raw power of the ley line network!
- Madra yells: No, you maniac! You mustn't draw from the spell of cleansing!
- Fin'zanel draws upon the energy of the Nexus. Malevolent energy radiates outwards. The entire Nexus begins to shudder.
- Voice of the Malevolence yells: I... am... released...
- Fin'zanel yells: Ahahahaha! The master's power fills me! ...er... master...? This is... a little... much...!
- Energy explodes out of the Nexus. Fin'zanel is blasted into flinders. Dark energy pours over everyone present.
- Voice of the Malevolence yells: Fffrrreeeeeee....
- Madra yells: Mmrraagghh! This power... so poisonous... so hateful...!
- Malevolent energy seeps into Madra, transforming him into Madra the Malevolent.
- Madra the Malevolent yells: You...! He calls for your destruction! He has chosen me to kill you!
Outro
- As Madra teeters on the brink of collapse, Kalec suddenly appears.
- Kalec yells: No more, brother! Be free of this vile sorcery!
- Kalec's power restores Madra to his senses...
- Madra yells: Brother... I am... free from his grasp! But the ritual...
- Kalec yells: Our efforts are for naught! The interference of the Malevolence's pawns have rendered the ley line alignment unstable! We must fall back from the Oculus at once!
Cinematic
- Raw dark energy blazes from the Nexus. The Oculus rings crumble and fall to the frozen ground. Over the sound of the destruction, dark laughter can be heard...
Aftermath
- After the retreat from the Oculus, the players will regroup with Madra and Kalec in the frozen fields outside the blazing Nexus.
- Kalec says: We have failed. The Malevolence has escaped our grasp.
- Madra says: But where has it gone? It is no longer in the Nexus!
- Kalec says: It has fled. When the alignment we had prepared became unraveled, the ley line network returned to its original state. The ley lines of Northrend were reconnected with the ley lines of the other continents.
- Madra says: Then... the Malevolence is free! Free to spread its evil throughout the world!
- Kalec says: It is worse than that. I felt the intent of the Malevolence when it left the Nexus. It wants more than to spread carnage from the ley lines. It wants to be truly free - free from the ley lines entirely, free to walk the world in flesh. It has gone to the place where this may be possible.
- Kalec says: It has gone to the true nexus of the ley lines of Azeroth - it has gone to Karazhan.
- Kalec says: Champions... the Malevolence must be tracked to its new lair, and halted at all costs. I saw into its mind. I know... I know what the Malevolence truly is.
- Madra says: Brother...?
- Kalec says: It... he... is hatred incarnate. Hatred that will consume us all if he is allowed to rise.
