Urok Doomhowl is an ogre mini-boss summoned in Lower Blackrock Spire.

Urok cursed Warosh and stole his mojo.

Adventure Guide

Doomhowl is the true leader of the spire's ogres. This sinister figure has charmed his trusted aid, Highlord Omokk, with insidious magic to control Doomhowl's minions in his stead. He has gone to great lengths to keep up this charade, ruthlessly killing any ogres who challenge the highlord's rule.

Abilities

  • Ability golemthunderclap.png Intimidating Roar — Urok Doomhowl roars, causing all players within 0 yards to flee in fear for 8 sec.
  • Ability gouge.png Rend — Urok Doomhowl rends his current target, inflicting Physical damage every 3 seconds.
  • Ability rogue ambush.png Strike — Urok Doomhowl strikes his current target, inflicting Physical damage.

Location and summoning

Urok's Tribute Pile sits on a landing where several of his fellow ogres stand; the landing is at the hairpin turn in the stone ramp running up from the Skitterweb Tunnels. Doomhowl must be summoned by mounting  [Omokk's Head] on a  [Roughshod Pike] planted in his pile of skulls. The pike can be looted from a stand on the east wall of upper Hordemar City, while the head of course comes from Highlord Omokk in Mok'Doom.

Strategy

Since Doomhowl does not appear until summoned, adventurers can clear not only the surrounding ogres but also the bugs further up the ramp to make sure the area is entirely clear before fighting him.

When the head is planted on the pike, several waves of ogre guards attack before Doomhowl himself appears. The head-on-a-pike can be interacted with during the fight to do significant damage to his minions, so a party member can be assigned to use it whenever possible, approximately every 30 seconds. The head may also need to be re-used to push the encounter along if there seems to be a lull in the ogre waves, especially when the character's level outclasses the encounter.

Urok Doomhowl is not immune to crowd control including [Fear]. Since it is easy to clear a large area around him before beginning the fight, a warlock may be able to keep him permanently feared while damage over time effects kill him. Fear can also be effective against his adds.
