Baine Bloodhoof

High Chieftain of the Tauren

Baine Bloodhoof, chieftain of the Tauren people, is a figure of careful wisdom thrust into a position of power by dire tragedy.

Baine Bloodhoof has been fighting to defend his people since the tauren, newly settled in the verdant plains of Mulgore, were threatened with extinction by local centaur tribes. As the tauren sought to find a life for themselves on the plains, they encountered other dangers, from the Palemane gnolls to the miners of the Venture Company. Throughout the process, Baine steadfastly supported his father, High Chieftain Cairne Bloodhoof, in protecting their kin and dealing fairly with allies and enemies alike.

At the close of a successful campaign to defeat the Lich King, Cairne was killed in a duel against Garrosh Hellscream. The fight was doomed from the start; it had been sabotaged by Magatha Grimtotem, elder crone of the Grimtotem tribe, as part of an elaborate attempt to take control of the tauren capital, Thunder Bluff. Stolid in the face of his grief, Baine rushed to retake control of the city and assume the role of high chieftain. Despite his distrust of Garrosh, Baine now fights for the stability of the tauren nation in a Horde riven by others' thirst for power.
