Redirect to List of regions?

I reverted that change because I feel 'Zone' is a game term that should be explained on its own, whereas List of regions is a list page. Feel free to disagree with me ... :) -- Kirkburn (talk) 22:16, 17 September 2006 (EDT)

Why should there be an entire page for a couple sentences to define it? List of zones already defined zone anyways, but I merged Zone with it to expand it to the more verbose of the two. Most importantly because the main page links to Zones, which should provide information about the Zones in WoW, not what they are. Maybe Zone (definition) and let Zone list the zones. Sorry, I'd meant to come back to this earlier. I've moved the stuff from List of regions to here and made the other page a redirect. -- Kirkburn (talk) 22:12, 28 September 2006 (EDT)

And now

It's a combo page. And I rewrote it. :) User:Kirkburn/Sig 10:31, 18 January 2007 (EST)

Blackrock Mountain?

Blackrock Mountain, according to its page here is treated as a zone in WoW (though it lacks a map). Should it be included on the table as well? --GeekOfDeath

Done! User:Kirkburn/Sig2 23:04, 7 March 2007 (EST)
I believe the zone outside TAQ and RAQ is considered its own zone in WoW as well. I believe its called The Gates of Ahn'qiraj.Warthok Talk Contribs 21:35, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

RPG Zones vs WoW Zones

Alright real reason i came here. The RPG treats Grim Batol, Coldarra, Zul'aman, and Crystalsong Forest as their own zones (CSF may still be one). Also Ghostlands is known as the Blackened Woods. Would some kinda note be appropriate here? I'd make the change myself but i'm leaving in five mins and won't be back until late.Warthok Talk Contribs 21:35, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Much like we did for the Northrend article this page needs list the "Lore regions" as well. So people can compare the differences. However to be fair Blackened Woods was a combination of both Eversong Woods and Ghostlands. Silvermoon was its own Zone north of Eversong Woods. That is pointed out over in the Quel'Thalas article.Baggins (talk) 21:58, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Aye Silvermoon was it's own zone but the other capital cities were as well so it kinda works itself out. I know it's not the same (In the rpg silvermoon was as far from a functioning capital as possible), but the capitals in WoW are also their own zones so silvermoon doesn't nessesarly require any special treatment. Perhaps the other capitals should be in the article as well with a special note?Warthok Talk Contribs 23:32, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Well Silvermoon and Stormwind are actually special cases in that the zones also included areas outside of the city proper. Silvermoon had the Sunwell Grove/Quel'Danas island, and Stormwind had its own shoreline areas (corebook2) and northern pass (LoC). Yes agree the special notes are important. I put some on the continent articles for the Eastern Kingdoms as well. Pointing out that many of the cities were both zones and the cities. With the case of Ironforge the article overlapped into the city and the Dun Morogh zone, Khaz Modan. -Baggins (talk) 06:58, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Blackrock mountain

Blackrock Mountain is a small connection between 2 zones and an entrance to instance/s, it's not a zone, it's more of an area in a zone that overlaps 2 different ones.Vargo22 (talk) 10:34, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

Inspiration

Just been thinking, with what we have seen from Cataclysm many of the comming zones will be e.g. 'Egypt inspired' or Old England inspired, and i realised that many zones ingame were noticably inspired by real world locations or times, or from other fantasies (e.g. Stranglethorn is obviously Mesoamerican inspired, The Barrens was likely inspired ingame by the Sahael, the Hinterlands by the rockies, Dustwallow by louisiana etc). . I really think adding an inspiration section to all zone pages might be an interesting way to show this to the casual viewer. Thoughts? gadget (talk) 01:24, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

I am indeed quite interested in getting a second oppinion on this, but if this gets the go ahead, then i will discuss each zone's inspiration on the talk of the appropriate zonee before making the section for each page. Is this cool? gadget (talk) 05:10, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Try making a new forum topic, since this would involve multiple pages → Forum:Zone Inspirations. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 06:13, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

Populations

I was wondering, being as alot of people (like me) like stats of populations etc. Wouldn't it be good to add populations in the table? just a thought but yeh I dunno how the f**k it'll help :P --Senoj (talk) 23:26, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

What do you mean, give an example please. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 00:18, March 1, 2010 (UTC)
Well y'know in the table have a column which contains the official population for said zone, but again, just a thought.. --Senoj (talk) 23:44, March 5, 2010 (UTC)
Most zones though, especially the wilderness ones, don't have official populations, and those that do are at least two expansions out of date. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:54, March 5, 2010 (UTC)
That's where I got confused... cause most zones that have/had population numbers are on the zone pages in the infobox... that's why I didn't know exactly what you were asking for... but you mean on this page, I see... Well... I have no objections to it, though as Dark T Zeratul said, they'd be all out of date, especially come the next expansion when major changes are done to places. Isle of Quel'Danas

The flight path to the Isle of Quel'Danas is available to my level 25 Rogue, well below the level 65 as listed. Perhaps it's simply available at all times now? I would suggest, if that is the case, to simply list it as a level 70 zone, as the quests only become available at level 70. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pocketthesaurus (talk · contr).

Deepholm: Eastern Kingdoms or The Great Sea

I assume Deepholm is listed in the Eastern Kingdoms because it was originally announced that Deathwing's point of emergence (and the entrance to the zone) would be there, however, since Deepholm is technically in the Elemental Plane and the entrance is now in the Maelstrom, is there any reason not to categorize it as part of the Great Sea?
