Talk:Ulduar

Odd, the first picture seems like Uldaman, with the temple like architecture and the "old world" look, but the second one has a more clockwork look. Are they still trying to decide what the "style" for the place is or is it a "branched" area, with tech in one end and traditional decor in the other? Xlel 17:36, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Gnomes, I find and I do belive this is a major lore and inctance that will explain the gnomish orgin, if they are a failed or a sucsesful creation.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xim (talk · contr).
That's an interesting thought, but plz sign your posts. Xlel 02:09, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Hotfixes

I haven't had time to edit all the articles, but please watch the Blizz.gif bluposts for hotfixes to Ulduar bosses. /chomp‎ Howbizr(t·c) 13:33, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Somewhat related I found a list of bugs. I'm un-sure if this is appropriate for the main article, so I'm dumping it here. This post is from the Lead Encounter Designer:

Current Ulduar Issues (April 29) | 2009-04-21 00:00 | Blizzard Entertainment Daelo

A pretty comprehensive list of balance and bug hotfixes that we've applied so far is here:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=16474158165&sid=1

Here's the current issues with Ulduar we're currently investigating or are known and have no current fix.

Siege Engines that use Steam Rush while on a ramp sometimes fall through the world.
We currently have no fix for this, the workaround is simply to not cast Steam Rush on the ramps. The ability works fine in the Flame Leviathan fight and other flat ground.

Ignis sometimes will slag pot the offtank dealing with constructs.
The protections in place work most of the time, but we're still investigating reports on this. Note that the protection is only granted if the tank is actively being melee'd by the construct. If players immobilize the construct and the tank backs away, the tank will not have the slag pot protection.

Kologarn can Stone Grip someone at the exact same time his right arm dies, leaving the player gripped for an extended time.
This is really rare, we located the issue, but a fix will have to wait for a future patch.

Mimiron will sometimes spray the room with his P3W X2 ability in phase 4.
UPDATE: We've hotfixed a solution that will prevent the ugly mass death, but there is still a minor visual anomaly that we'll fix in a later patch.

Mimiron's Aerial Command Unit can sometimes switch targets from the normal ranged tank to a different target in phase 4.
This behavior can be caused by the ranged tank moving outside the range of the Plasma Ball ability, which is 30 yards. We'll update this in a future patch to create a phase 4 version of the spell with a longer range. The current spell has the shorter range to allow the ranged tank to move the Command Unit more easily in Phase 3.

Mimiron's Assault Bots corpses don't despawn after phase 3 ends, and they can hide mines with their bodies.
We're going to have them vaporize after phase 3 in a future patch.

Some of the XT-002 Deconstructor adds can evade.
We're investigating these reports.

The Ominous Clouds surrounding Sara can sometimes be triggered even if a player does not enter the Cloud.
We're investigating this issue currently.

Crusher Tentacles in the Yogg-Saron encounter can sometimes have an incorrect number of Diminish Power.
UPDATE: This has been hotfixed.

Saronite Vapors in the General Vezax encounter sometimes do not provide mana properly.
We've noticed this and are looking into a solution.

The above isn't the total list of all issues we're checking out and fixing, some are visual only or are very rare.

In accordance with the Lovecraftian influences of the place, I believe the name of the place is pulled from a story known as 'The Silver Key': "I shall ask him when I see him, for I expect to meet him shortly in a certain dream-city we both used to haunt. It is rumoured in Ulthar, beyond the River Skai, that a new king reigns on the opal throne of Ilek-Vad, that fabulous town of turrets atop the hollow cliffs of glass overlooking the twilight sea..." and so on and so forth. I am unsure if this should be put on the actual page itself as it's pure speculation. --Trebaruna

Firstly, this is heavily norse inspired as the titans themselves are based in norse and greek mythology. Secondly, I didn't realise lovecraft was so popular here. BobNamataki (talk) 13:49, November 1, 2009 (UTC)

In 7.3.5

From what I've heard with the change to Ulduar becoming timewalking-only, achievements have been moved to Legacy (RIP achievement points) and items such as Mimiron's Head no longer drops. Can someone verity this? EU servers don't get updated until tomorrow. --g0urra[T҂C] 02:50, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

It's not timewalking-only, there's just a timewalking version. I still have achievements except for the iron dwarf one which I need to redo (Hate that one). Mimiron's Head does drop and that's a UI error in the journal. ReignTG (talk) 02:55, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Essentially, Ulduar has been condensed to a single raid size. 10 and 25-player achievements were moved to Legacy and replaced with new, size-agnostic versions (for which you automatically receive credit if you did the original versions), and both 10 and 25-player loot has a chance to drop. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 03:15, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Gotcha, I had just seen posts on Facebook where people lamented the removal of Mimiron's Head. --g0urra[T҂C] 07:13, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Mimiron's head was removed from the loot table, but as a visual bug only, technically you could still loot it. Source -- MyMindWontQuiet 12:17, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
