Possible violation of NDA?

This info and screenshot looks like its from the pre-release client, but if it is from the PTR, that needs to be mentioned. --Gengar orange 22x22.png Fandyllic (talk · contr) 3:39 PM PST 30 Jun 2008

It's all taken from the PTR, I placed the PTR stub on it for now. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 22:48, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Landlocked?

Isn't Stormwind significately inland?  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 09:18, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

Nope. If it is, it is for the same reason the Deeprun tram does not fit.--SWM2448 19:02, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Stormwind nearly sits om a cliff as it currently is.Warthok Talk Contribs 20:18, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
On the map it looks landlocked. Also, I just went there to talk to the NPCs. They didn't say they were building the harbor inside Stormwind as the page aludes to, they said they are going to knock down the wall in order to build a road down to the Stormwind Harbor.  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 05:17, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
When the person made this page I'm sure that they meant the harbor would be part of stormwind city, inside it's borders with the cities walls surrounding it (minus the ocean part of course), not directly inside it as it currently stands. Well they say they are going to build a road down to the Harbor. I am not certain, but I am guessing the road will be somewhat long. Are there going to be walls on both sides of the road as it travels down to the Harbor or will it just be a road that goes all the way down to the Harbor. If it is the latter, then it won't be part of Stormwind City.  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 06:04, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
The way it was in alpha (yay for being able to talk about it now), there was a tunnel where the wall full of dynamite is, then a long and breathtaking path down to water level and the docks. The build we were on was semi-broken, so some of the models didn't have collision, and there weren't any NPCs, but I expect it'll be part of the Stormwind City zone... --k_d3 06:08, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Its a tunnel only slightly longer than the rest of the tunnels in Stormwind. This leads to the harbor, but their is no long road that leads to an area seperate from the rest of stormwind. The harbor starts at the end of the tunnel, just has a few levels for cannons and such. The Harbor is a new district, directly attached and part of the city (of course its open to the ocean). I know that from the artistic maps ingame it seems that stormwind is landlocked Rolandius, but it isn't. Look at one of the maps of the eastern kingdoms instance from the air. It sits on a cliff right on the edge of the ocean. In fact the shoreline even bulges out a little bit to make room for The Park.Warthok Talk Contribs 06:44, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Yarr! Look at here. It's nice for spotting things. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 06:58, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
Does that mean Mason Goldgild and Foreman Wick are just there until the wall disappears? Are there going to be phases like: wall, no wall but a tunnel, gatehouse, and harbor. Or is it just going to be like it is now, and then suddenly everything will be built after the expansion?  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 07:22, 18 July 2008 (UTC)
They do this so to make it appear as if a story is being told, something might change during the northrend opening event... or it might not be opened up till release. But yea, I assume those two will disappear (be removed) or they might appear in a new location to serve no purpose. Mason Goldgild and Foreman Wick, I hardly knew ye.LOL The mapwow thing sure helped, now it does look like Stormwind is pretty close to the shore. Although I still think Rut'theran Village should be the one stated to have a harbor, and not Darnassus. You need a portal just to get from Rut'theran Village to Darnassus, so I don't know how it can be said that Darnassus is also a city that has its own port.  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 09:16, 18 July 2008 (UTC)

Boat to Auberdine?

WotlkWiki says that there will be a boat to auberdine in Stormwind Harbor. Anyone have the link/confirmation? Also, what will happen to Menethil? Repaxan (talk) 23:00, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

They are not very well cited at all, and it like many things on that website may be made up.--SWM2448 23:13, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
I don't have time to find it right now, but one of the blues said on the forum that the Auberdine/Menethil boat is being redirected to Stormwind. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 00:53, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
I thought I just read on here that the Theramore Isle/Menethil Harbor boat was being changed to Theramore Isle/Stormwind Harbor so that the low levels from Kalimidor could get to Stormwind and Ironforge easier?  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 02:10, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
It's true. The auberdine<->menethil path now points to SW instead so young night elves don't have to do the "wetlands deathflop" to get to IF. --k_d3 06:21, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
So is there going to be a Theramore Isle/Stormwind Harbor boat too? Or just the Auberdine/Stormwind Harbor boat?  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 06:29, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Hmm... thats true, only theramore and menethil will be connected... maybe this is the exact reason they added a portal trainer to theramore. <--outdent. Menethil is now connected to Theramore and Valgarde. --k_d3 06:44, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Ah okay so does it go like this? Auberdine<->Theramore and Theramore<->Stormwind Harbor?  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 06:46, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
More like Auberdine ↔ Stormwind Harbor, Auberdine ↔ Theramore, Auberdine ↔ Darnassus, Auberdine ↔ Exodar, Auberdine ↔ Valgarde.... wait thats 5 docks... Kay? There's no Auberdine to Valgarde. I need to go to sleep. I've corrected my <--outdent line. Auberdine->Stormwind, Exodar. Menethil->Theramore, Valgarde, Stormwind->Auberdine, Valiance Keep. Theramore -> Menethil. --k_d3 06:53, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Are you saying that there is no Theramore<->Stormwind Harbor boat? I thought I read that on here Theramore Isle.  Rolandius Wc3Knight.gif (talk - contr) 07:02, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Hm, it does say that. Whoever put that was mistaken; it was the Auberdine/Menethil route that was changed to Stormwind, not the Theramore/Menethil route. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 10:29, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
No wonder I was all confused.  Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 10:31, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Name of river

Does the channel/river that connects Stormwind Harbor with the ocean have a name? Could this channel/river be the one that, going south, turns into the Thunder Falls?  Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 10:01, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

What river? Stormwind harbor is completely open to the great sea. The land slightly dents in but thats it. See http://mapwow.com/ Thunderfalls seems to originate in the hills south of stormwind.Warthok Talk Contribs 10:11, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
It is? Oh I was looking at the map in the page and it looked like a river with land on the other side of the harbor. So that stuff west of the harbor is more water and not land?  Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 10:31, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Yep. Nothing but water.Warthok Talk Contribs 14:04, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

More from Stormwind Forest?

Well, they finally decided to use the harbor from lore. So wheres the rest of the forest that are north of it? mabey a hope of using it soon? and mabey while their at it they can add the other 5 someodd layers to IF. Microtech7 (talk · contr), 70 Hunter, 2:00PM, July 30, 2008.
their are 7 other depths including the layer ingame. Microtech7 (talk · contr).
Many things aren't done exactly how they might have originally appeared in other games. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 20:39, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
But its an entire zone, i mean teh ironforge thing is understnadable because all thouse were like hotel depths, and markets, but stormwind forest is an entire zone, its how stormwind got its name. Microtech7 (talk) 11:20, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
I cannot find a page called "Stormwind Forest". Is it just a forest with no name? I see some maps of the region your talking about though. Some maps show it as lots of trees, some maps show it as high mountains though. If it is all high peaks maybe that is why it is not a zone?  Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 11:28, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
There is no such zone known as Stormwind Forest. Maybe he is thinking of Elwynn forest. Or of the region of stormwind which includes the hills around the city. However none of these are "stormwind forest". No such zone exists. Point of note: even if the zone existed (the area north of stormwind or whatever), blizzard not including it is entirely understandable. The world is scaled down and is meant to be an interpretation of the real azeroth, not an exact carbon copy. Lets pretend for a second and say this forest exists. It would still not even rank on the top ten list of things blizzard has choosen not to include due to limitations.Warthok Talk Contribs 11:38, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Yea, they'd rather have the Shady Rest town in the game, than a little old forest. User:CoobraSssssssssssssssssssssssss User:CoobraFor Pony! {TDon't hiss at me.CIf you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.) 17:59, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
They are putting the Shady Rest town into the game?  Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 03:01, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
No, he was just using that as an example. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 03:06, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Ah man. Okay.  Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 04:01, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Coastline

Anyone who has been to Newman's Landing (going north from Westfall, at least) knows that along the way you will enter Stormwind. You can get rested, and talk in the channels, and everything. When you look on the map, you're just about on the tip of the swords in the top left corner. If you look at the Wrath map of Stormwind, this same spot is in the Harbour.

Has anyone else noticed this? -Archaeic (talk) 17:43, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

NPC's

I recently visited the harbor on a newly made Alliance char (just to see the harbor lol) and I saw that there are a lot of NPC's such as the Dockhand or the Steam Tank Engineer and the Stormwind Harbor Guard. If anyone want something to do, they could create pages for the Harbor NPC's. --Mistertrouble189 (talk) 03:14, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

There's many npc/mob that still do not have pages. Things will get done eventually, however, focus should be on npc/mobs that are part of quests or vendors first. Zone

Anyone notice that within seconds of leaving Stormwind's docks you enter the Westfall zone? Shouldn't it be Stormwind still or at least Elwynn Forest? Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 12:26, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Airship Hangar

In the new Isle of Conquest battleground there is a building labeled 'Airship Hangar'. It uses the exact same model as the big gates structure in the harbor. Can we assume Stormwind has an airship hangar as well? Unireal 29 June 2009

Its possible the gunship, The Skybreaker, was built behind those gates in stormwind... but its nothing but speculation. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 19:34, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
The second I saw the Skybreaker, I also assumed this. As a hunter, I explored the 'Gate' and found the chimney on it's right rear side (as seen in one of the screenshots). There also appears to be two long metal panels at the highest point of the roof, maybe as a primitive skylight for working during the day. It's placement is nowhere near the shore, and to build a temporary road to the water to launch a boat would be highly impractical. And it's certainly bigass enough :P So, I figured it would be, at least, a secure location from prying Horde eyes (and possible sabotaging hands) to build and deploy this marvel of engineering. Anyway, that's my two cents.--Mondoblasto (talk) 08:54, 2 July 2009 (UTC)
