Stormwind Army? This description sounds more like the organization known as the Stormwind Guard.Baggins (talk) 17:21, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

I might be incorrect but aren't there around 4 organizations? The Stormwind Guard, the Stormwind City Guard, the Stormwind Royal Guard, and the Stormwind Army? The Stormwind Guard helps protect the regions controlled by the kingdom. The Stormwind Royal Guards are found in the keep. The Stormwind City Guard are found within the city. The Stormwind Army is called out in force when there is an attack on the city or some kind of battle in which the Stormwind City Guard, and maybe the Stormwind Guard, are not enough to stop the enemy. I always thought they were mainly represented by General Marcus Jonathan, Major Mattingly, and Field Marshal Afrasiabi in the Valley of Heroes. Since there are no citations I cannot easily check this information out. I do know though that according to LoC the Westbrook Garrison is used by the Stormwind Guard like Deputy Rainer who has been put into this page for some reason. In summary, I do not think the two pages should be merged, since they are actually two different groups, but that a lot of information about the Stormwind Guard has been mixed into this page. The information about the Stormwind Guard just has to be moved to its proper page and any information about the Stormwind Army itself put on this page instead. From what I could find "Stormwind army" is usually a lower case term, rather than being a proper organization name. Its made up of all the individual groups, Stormwind Guard, Stormwind City Guard, Stormwind Royal Guard etc, and possibly the People's Militia. Additionally there is a "Stormwind Marshalls" mentioned in quests as well.Baggins (talk) 03:12, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
Yes it is lower case for the word army. Not much information is given about the "Stormwind army". I would agree with you on the idea that it could be made up of all those individual groups except for this information I found which makes it sound like it is a seperate organization. "If a fighting force were to penetrate the walls of Stormwind, these smaller units [Stormwind City Guard] would engage intruders, buying time for the army to respond. As a note, the Stormwind army can also muster together quickly and provide aerial and magical support for the city’s militia during an invasion." This tells us that the Stormwind City Guard is seperate from the Stormwind army and would be a supporting force to the army. "...the people of Westfall are growing increasingly upset with the inability of the Stormwind Guard to protect their villages from the attacks of the Brotherhood, and some have begun refusing Stormwind-minted coins as a political protest." This tells us that the People's Militia is seperate from the Stormwind Guard as it was created due to the lack of help from Stormwind. "The Stormwind guard tends to use the Westbrook Garrison as a testing ground for newly initiated knights." As the Stormwind Guard is located in Elwynn Forest, I am not sure if they could "muster together quickly" and get to Stormwind City and become the "Stormwind army" although I could be mistaken on that part. It does not seem that the Stormwind City Guard, the Stormwind Royal Guard, or the People's Militia are part of the Stormwind army. In summary, the evidence that the Stormwind Guard is actually the Stormwind army could go either way but I am wondering who General Marcus Jonathan, Major Mattingly, and Field Marshal Afrasiabi in the Valley of Heroes represent if the Stormwind Guard is really the Stormwind army? As for the Stormwind Marshals, it says that they were part of the Burning Legion's invasion event leading up to the launch of Burning Crusade in which Lord Marshal Raynor speaks to "Sons of the Alliance! Of the Horde! My brothers and sisters!" which makes it sound like a Alliance/Horde group effort. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 03:52, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Pre-wars

Is it known if the Stormwind Army existed before the First War? What if this one was established post Second War? What if the army had different name before the First War? --Mordecay (talk) 12:20, 23 May 2017 (UTC)

Considering we don't know, having information on both the old and modern armies on the same page seems fitting until if we ever we know more. Xporc (talk) 12:23, 23 May 2017 (UTC)
Exactly, we don't know. I think we shouldn't have that on the main part of the page ("Old era" section (and the link in the First War page)) but maybe in speculation sections. Mordecay (talk) 11:49, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
Come on, mate. That page wouldn't even have a proper name. That's a bad start if you want to split informations. Xporc (talk) 11:56, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
Not split, just move the section Old era to speculation section here. --Mordecay (talk) 14:56, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
At worst I can accept the sentence I just wrote in the Notes section, but I won't accept pushing the Old era section as speculation. It's a simple and sourced fact that Stormwind soldiers fought during the First and Second Wars, the only unknown thing is if the army commanding them changed name at some point. Xporc (talk) 15:17, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
That works too, I guess. --Mordecay (talk) 15:19, 1 June 2017 (UTC)
