Talk:Mechagon Island

If the outdoor zone / the island is named "Mechagon Island", and "Mechagon" is the name of the underground city which also has an instance version known as Operation: Mechagon, should "Mechagon Island" redirect to Mechagon or should it be split? --Mordecay (talk) 10:24, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

So far on the PTR, the island is literally "Mechagon" (as shown in the interface area above the minimap) but referenced as "Mechagon Island". Not sure how this will span out, but it'd make sense to separate the two. — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 12:53, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

Ooh, right, should have checked wowhead first. I just saw direct links to Mechagon Island instead of Mechagon here and assumed that's the outdoor zone name. In this case I'm less sure if further splitting is necessary, but yeah, it would be nice to differentiate between the zone and the underground city, I guess. --Mordecay (talk) 13:00, 18 April 2019 (UTC)

I'm not sure we should also move the Category:Mechagon to Category:Mechagon Island? Looking at wowhead, quests are under "Mechagon", not Mechagon Island. If we decided to use the full name of Ashenvale Forest as page name would category:Ashenvale quest be moved to Category:Ashenvale Forest quests? --Mordecay (talk) 10:06, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

But Ashenvale is the name of the zone. Looking at the Visitor's Guide my guess is the zone will be named Mechagon Island instead of just Mechagon. At least I expect that because it would be such a pita if they left it as just Mechagon. Two days left so if they don't change it then we could go back. --Ryon21 (talk) 11:10, 23 June 2019 (UTC)

I'd personally take the easiest and most common option, whatever it is. It's okay if we misname a few pages/categories for the sake of making our lives easier. Xporc (talk) 07:09, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

I can't recall of similar situations. But a lot of the quests in the island refer to it as also Mechagon Island, I think. If we went with that name, a simply commentary in the notes section or the first paragraph might be enough. Since Blizz used the name like that in that bar that Suraf posted, I don't mind moving the page (and related categories, I think?) to Mechagon Island, but the current one is also fine for me. --Mordecay (talk) 01:04, 27 June 2019 (UTC)
