I remember that some version of this page had an edit war of just which duels count as this concept...--SWM2448 16:54, 3 October 2012 (UTC)

As for the Orgrim/Blackhand, I don't remember it was said to be a mak'gora

The line describing the duel (the one that I know of) says "But tradition allowed a warrior to challenge his chieftain for supremacy and Doomhammer had finally been forced to take that route.". Up to you to decide if it fits the criteria or not. --CogHammer.gifDoomeЯ TBattlegroup RoundIcon.pngC 19:13, 3 October 2012 (UTC)
The edit that removed Blackhand/Doomhammer as an example said this: "It's a duel of honor and Doomhammer killed Blackhand in a surprise attack." But in current lore, that is no longer the case. As Doomer007 says, Tides of Darkness and other sources state that Doomhammer defeated Blackhand in a traditional "challenge", to take control of the Horde. I don't think it uses the word "mak'gora", but it indicates that it was an honorable duel. I'm going to put it back in, but you guys can remove it if you decide that the challenge doesn't count as mak'gora. -BaronGrackle (talk) 01:31, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Magic

Is magic forbidden? --Mordecay (talk) 14:05, 5 July 2016 (UTC)

Thrall could use his shaman powers against Garrosh during the Scourge Invasion. Xporc (talk) 14:40, 5 July 2016 (UTC)
Shagara used magic in her mak'gora against Ashra in Bloodsworn. There's nothing definitive in the game universe. IMO, it seems like it would be against the rules. Or maybe because of the orcs' relationship with the elements, using elemental magic is okay since it's kinda like divine intervention? Magic (or at least fel) is definitely considered cheating in the film universe. --Aquamonkeyeg (talk) 16:04, 5 July 2016 (UTC)

"To the Death"

This lists a rule for the Cairne/Garrosh fight that it would be to the death: That was not a rule, & the fact that Cairne died was an enormous scandal. Removing that line. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Samrobotsin (talk · contr).

I am in charge of the Horde now, and I say I will accept your challenge of the mak’gora—the old mak’gora. The way it once was, with all the old rules. All of them.”
Cairne’s eyes narrowed. “To the death, then?”
Garrosh grinned. “To the death. Perhaps now you will apologize.”
