Old discussion

Someone know the human and gnome one?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by WoWWiki-Meitnerium (talk · contr).

Just a lil note... The blood elf crest there is most likely fake, but it works for now. --Kakwakas 17:57, 30 Jan 2006 (EST)

That and the Draenei crest looks bad too, or at least not similar to the rest of all the crests. That's the only one that has glowing stuff around it. Schmidt 16:03, 29 May 2006 (EDT)
That's probably because it's actually a Naaru (according to Drysc) -- Kirkburn 16:40, 29 May 2006 (EDT)
Thanks. Schmidt 14:01, 30 May 2006 (EDT)

Note: we don't know the Draenei Crest yet. Yes, there has been speculation over the 'naaru' picture, but it is unknown. Drsyc has said that the picture is of a Naaru, which is the only information we have at the moment -- Kirkburn 09:03, 23 June 2006 (EDT)

Lest there be any confusion over the Naaru image, see Samwise's gallery, where he describes the picture as a 'denizen of Outland' -- Kirkburn 16:20, 26 June 2006 (EDT)

Icon of the damned

I dunno really if this should be added, but this icon was added yesterday on Sons of the Storm. It is called Icon of the Damned, but I am not sure what purpose it has yet. Maybe we should wait with adding it until we get some more details. --Kulsprutejojjo 14:07, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Other icons

Here some icons if you want to add them. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 12:08, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Icon of Defeat
Icon of the Lich King
And which faction uses the Icon of Defeat? User:Jormungand01/sig 20:27, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
Any that loses in WCIII.--SWM2448 20:43, 21 February 2009 (UTC)

Your Welcome

I added on the Worgen and Goblin crests, and tried to name and interpret the goblin one, so dont bother trying to sabatoge my beloved pyros Smokeclamp (talk) 11:08, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

The term "Crest"

Is "Crest" the term Blizzard uses for what is listed on this page? The naming scheme seems to follow the pattern of "Icon of..." at least for the races. If it is the proper term, it needs citation. If it is not the proper term, it needs to perhaps be renamed to be something more accurate, as I believe a "crest" is the feather pattern on top of a helmet resting on a shield (like a rooster's crest).--SWM2448 21:28, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Sons of the storm uses Icon of X. and id like to point out that icon of kezan and gilneas are their confirmed names, someone go interpret the worgen one :)--Tabarax (talk) 02:31, 22 December 2010 (UTC)
I agree for a move to Icon, with a redirect left from Crest

Alright. At least for now. What is the importance of "Icon" redirecting to Project:WoW Icons?--SWM2448 18:06, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
Most likely none !

Icon lore usage?

Some of the crests are used for their proper factions, but there are some that are strange. The icon of Kezan, as the name implies, is maybe a symbol for all the goblins rather than the Bilgewater Cartel no? The icon of Gilneas uses the old symbol of the kingdom but it is the kingdom's crest? And the most rare one. The icon of Courage is not the crest of Stormwind. So, it was the crest of the Alliance of Lordaeron or the Kingdom of Lordaeron? I'm not sure all these icons are 100% accurate to the lore but rather as a gameplay thing. --Ryon21 (talk) 00:21, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

File:WorldMap-StormwindCity.jpg has a Stormwind version, but I don't know where the art exists.--SWM2448 01:08, 4 March 2018 (UTC)
Cool find. Maybe that was the original symbol but for some reason it was changed. And, could this symbols then be the cities' coat of arms more than the factions'? --Ryon21 (talk) 01:20, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

I am not sure it was wise either to replace all the previous crests with the current ones, who have slightly different designs. Opinions? Xporc (talk) 13:22, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Tbh, the icons should be the more ressemblant to the ones on the official web: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/game/races For example, the icon of the Forsaken points to the left while the new one that has been uploaded points to the right.
PD: Now I don't know which ones were uploaded before. Maybe the new ones are more accurate. --Ryon21 (talk) 15:06, 4 March 2018 (UTC)

Pandaren icon

This icon is taken from the official website, but if you look at the pages for other regular races they also have the round part added to their icon (examples: [[1]], [[2]]).

The pandaren icon should be the same as the monk icon. Mrforesttroll (talk) 15:07, 16 August 2018 (UTC)

The other racial crests do not include the circle thingy anyway. The monk one however has that little string on the bottom that the pandaren one does not, so they can't use the same pic. -- MyMindWontQuiet 19:43, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
It is just cropped to fit in the circle, and the circle comes from the vanilla box art.--SWM2448 23:12, 16 August 2018 (UTC)
