Move?

Should this be moved as there's also a zone named Mac'Aree? --Mordecay (talk) 15:27, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Not necessarily? it's presumably the same area, so just keep existing text as background info Xporc (talk) 15:30, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
Like Suramar and Suramar? --Mordecay (talk) 15:31, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
Suramar is a region, Suramar City is a subzone in that region. If there's a Mac'Aree region and a Mac'Aree subzone inside it, then, yeah, a split will be required. Xporc (talk) 15:33, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
At the moment, just judging by the in-game map since we can't go there yet, it looks like Mac'Aree will be a city zone like Zul'Drak. I don't think a split is necessary yet. ReignTG (talk) 15:59, 29 June 2017 (UTC)

Eredath

Making it doubly clear here, we're not moving the page until we're sure the name is final. With the sheer number of links that would need to be updated, if they change it again before the patch goes live it would just be a huge pain in the butt to have to update them more than once (to say nothing of creating double redirects and getting orphaned links to interim names). -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:28, 8 September 2021 (UTC)

Really? What about the billion times plot spoilers are added to the wiki based on PTR content? Or really any PTR content. Meganerd18 (talk) 08:36, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
It's easier to update a small amount of brand new stuff when it gets changed than it is to update nearly a thousand links. It wouldn't be the first time that names have changed during the PTR. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 08:51, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
@Meganerd, the issue is that we need to coordinate a simultaneous change across many pages/templates/categories which point to the zone. There's also a small possibility that the name changes a second time (being still PTR) and it would be mayhem if we were half-way through changing so many things at that point. So while normally I think we would be forward-leaning into PTR, in this instance a little planning/preparation on Discord (or the talk pages) seems like a wise idea. Release Candidate

Patch 9.1.5 is now a release candidate, and discussion is ongoing at the Wowpedia Discord (projects channel) to prepare for this zone renaming. We will execute the move shortly. Furthermore, we are drafting a new guideline, WP:RENAME, to capture lessons learned during this complex move. Thank you to everyone who has weighed in on the subject. Update -- I modified the text in the article to reflect 9.1.5; however, the following links and templates need to be changed before the edits can be finished.

Separately, there is probably a lot of work on other pages that link back to this one! DDC (talk) 20:11, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

Example, Argus. — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 08:15, 25 October 2021 (UTC)

I made the move at the time my signatures states. The bot knocked out most of the straightforward stuff, but there are still some Special:WhatLinksHere/Mac'Aree that could be looked over manually. — SurafbrovWarcraft Wiki administrator T / C 10:47, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
