Please don't remove the bit about WMD's....I really cracked myself up with that one...hehehe! --Axx 01:55, 14 December 2006 (EST)

What is WMD? sry 4 my noobiness :) Mage Apr 5 2007

Weapons of Mass Destruction -- User:Dunnsworth

Allies etc

The new quests in Dustwallow all but tell you that Onyxia manipulates the Defias, at least that she organized the king's abduction. And this article too is flagged as fair use violation, could we sometimes get a consensus on those sourcebook quotes? --Hurax 20:19, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Map?

the map of command structure is weird, where was it ever said that Hogger or Goldtooth work for the Defias?--Truckman1 18:51, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

It is mentioned that both the gnolls and kobolds of Elwynn and Westfall work for the Defias. Those two are just named examples of these. ---- Varghedin.jpg Varghedin  talk / contribs 10:05, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
The map might need some work I think, as some things appear a bit off. For example: I doubt Hogger or Goldtooth receive their orders directly from VanCleef--Maibe (talk) 01:09, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

"Noble" Defias?

There's a huge-ish thread going on in eu RP forum about the Defias - it wasn't about them first but anyhow, there are claims (based on some books I believe) there that members of Defias wanted payments of a million gold (or whatever is the currency of Stormwind) each. And when they were denied it, went all batshit and killed a number of people including the queen. So, what's the truth? The article paints them - or their origins at least as innocents that the system screwed over and badly. --RocketBrother (talk) 11:20, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

The impression I got was that it was a mix of both. There were a number of innocents that were genuinely screwed over by the system, but also those (like Van Cleef) that made excessive demands and got violent. Unfortunately, those in the latter category rallied the rest together, resulting in a rather large riot that resulted in the deaths of a number of people and the queen. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 00:53, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
But come to think: the only 'bill' we have is not from VC. And we have to keep in mind that with one of the recent Pen&Paper-sourcebooks Blizz more or less attempt to make VC look like a greedy bastard and the king all innocent and actually willing to pay...but that's a different topic and it's quite cheesy and not really thought through IMHO. To answer the question: Going by the sourcebooks before the attempt to make all defias look like greedy bastard I think we can actually say that the original Defias, including VC were actually pretty noble. And looking at it those excessive demands were actually reasonable as, apparently, noone was paid, not the masons, not the quarries, not the lumber mills, noone, as every noble (including the king back before they tried to change his image) saw the act of rebuilding the city as an act of public service...It's all money adding up--Maibe (talk) 01:06, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Wiley the Black

He's listed in both the Known Members table and the hierarchy image (which has other errors, but that's another matter), but I don't see any evidence for him being a member. Anyone have a reference on this one? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 20:40, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

I can't remember the name, but there's a quest somewhere that mentions him as being a former member. Jormungand01 21:47, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
Record of Defias Activity indicates that he infiltrated them, i.e. he was a double-agent, not a member. Of course, it's not properly cited either, so take it as you will. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 06:43, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

Hogger

I have a question. Are all the people in the chain of command image also Defias members? For instance, Hogger is in the chain of command image but is not in the member box. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 02:56, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Why would Hogger have anything to do with the Defias Brotherhood? :S Nothing in-game hints that this would be the case. We can't let lies be spread on this Wiki! I therefore suggest we remove the chain of command image.--WoWWiki-Odolwa (talk) 11:08, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Hogger's article says "He is an indirect agent of the Defias Brotherhood along with the rest of his Riverpaw tribe". That's not my faction, does any quest explains this plainly?
Rhapsodia (talk) 11:12, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Read the riverpaw pack article, there is explained this and is cited (although they need to be converted into references). Benitoperezgaldos (talk) 17:15, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Pronunciation

Has Blizz ever confirmed how Defias is pronounced? Defeeis? Defy-us? Something else? Dazuro (talk) 23:05, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

Defy-us. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 23:13, July 1, 2010 (UTC)

May I ask what you base this claim on?--WoWWiki-Odolwa (talk) 14:04, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

Date of creation?

I have been trying to research some dates and figures for a short story, but I seem unable to find when the Defias Brotherhood was actually created. In relation to the start of WotLK, how many years before that would the rebuilding of Stormwind have begun, and how many years after that the creation of Defias Brotherhood? Wolfstorm11 (talk) 22:57, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

There really aren't any definitive dates with regards to the Defias. We know that Wrath starts about two years after classic WoW started, and the Defias was already in existence then. Stormwind's rebuilding started about 20-25 years ago after the Second War, and the Defias came into being after the rebuilding efforts were complete. And that's really all the information there is. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 01:41, July 7, 2010 (UTC)
Thank you, Ill try to row with the oars I have. I think I can figure out some dates with this.Wolfstorm11 (talk) 01:44, July 7, 2010 (UTC)
