Role

I was going to throw {{WorldEvent/Zalazane's Fall}} on the article, but I'm hoping he'll exist in more than this short event. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 04:21, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

I think he might be involved in some fashion in the new Echo Isles start quests, along with Zen'tabra, who - based on what I've seen and heard in the event on the PTR - will likely be a druid trainer there. --Joshmaul (talk) 05:14, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
Makes sense, she will likely be the Troll Druid leader. And if she's any indication.. troll druid cat form is tiger, and flight form is bat. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 15:55, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
I fear spoilers said that troll cat is not tiger...

Aww... course things that make sense or would make sense usually does go out the window =/ Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 15:44, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

Shame... they could have done something.. anything for the starter quests on the Echo Isles for him, but nothing.. not even a mention. Snake.gifSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3.gifFor Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 04:36, September 9, 2010 (UTC)

"Before the trolls"

In my opinion, the line "Bwonsamdi's origins are unknown and while he appears as a troll, Bwonsamdi himself stated that he came before trolls." is problematic because it slightly misrepresents what Bwonsamdi said in Shadows of the Horde. I don't have the book on me at the moment, but as far as I remember all he said was that "the loa came before the troll[s]", which is a pretty general statement and not just about himself specifically. The statement almost definitely applies to Bwonsamdi as well, of course, but I feel like it could be slightly misleading to readers.

It's probably a bit nitpicky, but especially right now when there's a lot of debate and speculation in the community over what Bwonsamdi is, there seem to be a lot of people citing this line from this page as canon. I think it would be better if we changed the line to be closer to what is said in the book; e.g. "Bwonsamdi's origins are unknown and while he appears as a troll, Bwonsamdi himself has stated that 'the loa came before the troll[s]'". As I said, I don't have the book available to me right now, so I don't feel confident in quoting the book just based on memory. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male.gif DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 08:01, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Would you have any idea what page it might be on? I've got the book, but I don't recall where it might be. I can check for it in the morning. -Cannibeans (talk) 08:06, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
Logically it'd be the same page as the one currently cited in the article (page 258). In any case, Surafbrov was kind enough to look up the specific conversation, from chapter 29 near the end of the book (emphasis mine):
Bwonsamdi's cold chuckle rippled through Vol'jin's chest as the troll spun to face the loa. "Have you not listened to your father, Shadow Hunter? The loa came before the troll. Your father be asking what trolls were called before they were called trolls. I be asking what they were called before that, or before that. What you are be a river. [...]"
-- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male.gif DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 08:43, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
The quote seems vague and meant to apply to all loa, or at least some of them, but I'll wait until others chime in. -Cannibeans (talk) 08:50, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
Loa seem they can be shapeshifters, so I wouldn't dare to assume that a loa is a troll only because it resembles one. Look at Sethraliss for example, she is in reality a big serpent but uses her sethrak form-avatar. What stops other loa to do the same? Maybe Bwon does it, just in a more gruesome skeletal way. Though this is just speculation of course. --Ryon21 (talk) 12:20, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
Personally I do think that Bwon is older than trollkind and can take whatever form he wants, but just chooses to look like a troll since trolls make up the majority of his worshipers, but I don't think we should misrepresent what has been said in official sources. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male.gif DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 12:31, 1 September 2018 (UTC)
Agreed. And you are right about the official sources. Better fewer and accurate words, than misrepresentations. --Ryon21 (talk) 12:52, 1 September 2018 (UTC)

Recruitment questline screenshots

I don't think we need all three of these images, at least not on this page:

I feel like it gets redundant to have multiple screenshots where the only difference is showing the character in different poses when we already have other images that show what the character looks like (File:Bwonsamdi BfA.jpg, File:Bwonsamdi BfA cinematic.jpg, File:Bwonsamdi Zandalar Spirit Healer.jpg). He's not really doing anything interesting in the first two, just sitting or standing idly. I'd prefer just keeping the last screenshot since it shows him interacting with Talanji during an important story moment and it shows the difference in size between them (obviously he can change size and is not always that big, but still), and to either delete the first two or move them to the associated quests' pages. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male.gif DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 19:58, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

When taking the pictures, I intentionally focused on the animations as his page did not show those (as such, I don't really concur with the notion of them being not interesting, especially when they portray him doing something different from the other images and when taken outside as the Zuldazar one). Given they are from a questline that can be done once per account, I'd say keep them at least somewhere else. --HordeRace bloodelf male.jpg Mordecay (talk) 21:03, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
I think those shots are fine. PeterWind (talk) 21:06, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
I don't see how a generic sit animation is interesting. Just because a character can do different animations doesn't mean their page needs to show every single one. And while the first image shows Bwon outside, the lighting and location are pretty similar to the third and we already have a screenshot of Bwon in an outdoors location (File:Rezan and Bwonsamdi.jpg). Having them on the individual quest pages is fine, but we don't need to include them all in Bwon's gallery when they're all so similar (same location and same questline).
To use an example, I uploaded a bunch of screenshots featuring Kiro to illustrate the vulpera recruitment quests (File:Guests at Grommash Hold - Awaiting audience.jpg, File:A Declaration of Intent.jpg, File:No Problem Too Small.jpg, File:No Problem Too Small - Kiro in the Highlands.jpg, File:Where Are the Workers - Peon Hideout.jpg, File:New Allies Among Us.jpg), but I only felt it was relevant to include two of them on Kiro's own page. -- IconSmall TrollDeathKnight Male.gif DeludedTroll (talkcontribs) 21:34, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
That reasoning makes sense. But at the same time having just a couple of images doesn't hurt, and the gallery could always have a few more. Either way, from the three, the third one is the most interesting as it shows how big Bwon is compared to a Zandalari, and also it is nice enough to put in the history section if it fits. --Ryon21 (talk) 22:51, 2 August 2020 (UTC)
