Bolvar

Was he going to engage the Lich King one-on-one? That seems a lttle foolish. BobNamataki (talk) 15:49, November 2, 2009 (UTC)

Night elf

If you pause at 3:06 I think that's a Night Elf there. BobNamataki (talk) 12:45, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

Well it's an Alliance army so that's entirely possible. What's your point? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:07, November 30, 2009 (UTC)

Retribution?

Forgive me for this but my knowledge of Warcraft lore is severly limited, though I'm trying to rectify this over time. I just wanted to ask if the actions of the Forsaken/Putress during the battle were officialy sanctioned by Sylvannas and if either the Alliance or particularly the Horde took action against them for the lives lost thanks to their surprise blight. I mean, the Forsaken, no matter how they mask their true intentions, are counted as being part of the Horde so the whole "death to the Scourge and death to the living" thing couldn't have endeared them to anyone. --Lyco (talk) 22:11, 23 September 2012 (UTC)

Putress was acting with Varimathras; Sylvanas was not made aware of their plans. Immediately thereafter, the two staged a coup and forced Sylvanas and her loyalists out of the Undercity. See Battle for the Undercity for the Alliance and Horde's responses. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 22:22, 23 September 2012 (UTC)
Ah, thank you. I knew about the Battle for the Undercity to an extent, pretty much the only thing I didn't realize about it was who started it and why lol. --Lyco (talk) 16:42, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Name

I don't think "Battle of Angrathar the Wrathgate" was ever officially used, but the full name of the location is "Angrathar the Wrathgate" or "Angrathar the Wrath Gate". --Aquamonkeyeg (talk) 21:02, 1 May 2015 (UTC)

Sylvanas' Orders

Alex Afrasiabi recently stated that the plaguing at Wrathgate was under Sylvanas orders. This page will need an overhaul to reflect that, along with Putress, Sylvanas, Varimathras and Battle for the Undercity, right? -Cannibeans (talk) 22:07, 13 November 2018 (UTC)

Source: "I've heard these discussions on the internet about 'she's going off the rails', but is she? I've been writing Sylvanas personally since 2006, and this is pretty much - the Wrathgate and the Blight and the Forsaken - in character. Those were all under Sylvanas' orders. What we're seeing now is an escalation of the plans Sylvanas has, clearly, and we're in the middle of that." -Alex Afrasiabi [1]

Plus a Chronicle 3 bit: [2]. No hard opinion on overhauling. Either that or mention both sources (Afrasiabi & the Chronicle bit) in the Notes section? --Mordecay (talk) 23:00, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
There's a chance this was a slip of the tongue, but I'd find it hard to believe Afrasiabi isn't aware of the context of Wrathgate, especially while taking credit for Sylvanas' writing over the years. I'm leaning towards waiting on possible clarification... if this is a true point to make, it's got to play into something. Maybe we'll get a reveal in-game soon, but I'm thinking we sit on it for a while and see if anything else crops up. -Cannibeans (talk) 23:08, 13 November 2018 (UTC)
This sounds a lot like a slip of the tongue to me. Chronicle specifically says it was not her doing, that she was indeed betrayed by Varimathras and Putress for the Legion. It adds that there are rumors that she may have known about it in advance (maybe she was spying on Putress?), but nothing about her orchestrating it. So we should go with Chronicle rather than what sounds like a dev speaking too fast like they always do (Ion slipped last week too..), but yeah we could wait for more.. -- MyMindWontQuiet 08:37, 14 November 2018 (UTC)
To me it sounds pretty straight forward in agreeance with what Cannibeans says. As we don't know for sure, and aren't in a rush, I think we could wait for now though. PeterWind (talk) 11:30, 14 November 2018 (UTC)
