Shared Container Tech

Shared Container Tech allows different build types of a game to use the same "Data" folder to reduce the amount of storage space required. For World of Warcraft, this allows multiple versions of the game to use the same data folder - reducing the storage space required - such as having retail, a Classic branch, and the Public Test Realm installed.

Supported games

These are the following games that use this tech, in chronological order:

  1. Overwatch
  2. World of Warcraft, with patch 8.1.0 as an undocumented change
  3. Warcraft III, with patch 1.32.6[1]
