Roland Abernathy is the undead companion of Aelthalyste. The two were venturing in Highmountain until they came across a tauren camp that had been wiped out by a demonic contagion, Roland fell to the same contagion and Aelthalyste called for help from the Conclave to find a cure. After being tested with the cure ---- and killed as a result, the High Priest resurrects Roland, now free from the fel sickness.
Roland travels with Aelthalyste to help injured soldiers fighting on the Broken Shore and later joins her as they travel to Netherlight Temple to pledge themselves to the Conclave in the temple's Sanctuary of the Void.
