Renown

Renown is a system that serves as an update to traditional reputation factions, with vastly more steps than the classic eight-step standings (from hated to exalted). Each level of Renown grants a reward with the associated faction, such as cosmetic equipment, pets, mounts, titles, or unlocking new quest chains.

Shadowlands

Renown as a concept was introduced in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, where the four Covenants (the Kyrian, Necrolords, Night Fae, and Venthyr) track their own Renown in single steps up to 40. Initially, players were limited to one covenant, but as the expansion progressed, some restrictions were removed as additional Renown levels were added up to the cap of 80.

Renown was gained in the form of an  [Emblem of Renown] at a rate of two or three per week during the level-up campaign: two from weekly quests and one from the weekly campaign quest. Alts, or players who were behind the cap, could catch up to the cap much more quickly with additional sources dropping renown, such as callings, PvP, raid bosses, and bonus rewards from campaign quests.

In World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, the Renown system was iterated from the Shadowlands version. Players were immediately able to join all four of the Major Factions (Dragonscale Expedition, Iskaara Tuskarr, Maruuk Centaur, and Valdrakken Accord) concurrently and could work on their Renown in parallel.

Unlike in Shadowlands, a point of Renown is gained by earning 2,500 points of reputation standing with the associated faction. That reputation comes from weekly and daily quests, in-game events, and other sources.

After reaching the last renown for each faction, the user will be able to continue earning more reputation up to 7,500 for the "Maximum Renown" reward. This functions similar to the paragon reputation system.

Limited-time reputations

Using the Dragonflight renown system, the Keg Leg's Crew is a reputation tied to the Plunderstorm limited-time event. Players can earn reputation on a 1:1 scale with [Plunder], needing 2500 Plunder for each Renown level up to Renown 40.
