Quel'Serrar

Quel'Serrar is one of the first Prismatic Blades. It was forged by the combined effort of the five dragonflights and the night elves, specifically the magesmith Luminarian, and was gifted to the kaldorei long ago. Its twin, Quel'Delar, was gifted to the quel'dorei. For thousands of years, Quel'Serrar was kept in the care of the Shen'dralar Ancients, waiting for one capable of restoring the blade. It is now rumored to be borne by a new master.

Quel'Serrar is a quest reward from  [60R] The Forging of Quel'Serrar, only available to warriors and paladins. The starting item,  [Nostro's Compendium of Dragon Slaying], drops from Dire Maul bosses. The drop rate was so low that it was considered impossible to farm for it. Since the book was not Bind on Pickup, it could also be found at the Auction House.

The quest starts by handing in the book to Lorekeeper Lydros in the library of Dire Maul, who gives the player an  [Unfired Ancient Blade]. The player must take this blade to Onyxia's Lair, and place it on the ground where it needs to be hit by one of Onyxia's Deep Breath attack. Once hit, the blade turns into a  [Heated Ancient Blade], which can be picked up and stabbed into Onyxia's corpse once she has been slain to turn it into a  [Treated Ancient Blade]. Returning this blade to the library rewards the player with Quel'Serrar.

Trivia

• Three other Prismatic Blades are known: Quel'Delar,  [Quel'Zaram, High Blade of the Lion], and the  [Skyborn Blade].
• To this day it remains rare to see an "original" Quel'Serrar and it is considered a testament to Classic Raiding.
• The original lore for Quel'Serrar stated that there were many "blades of Quel'Serrar" and only one "Prismatic Blade of Quel'Serrar." More recent lore instead states that there were many Prismatic Blades that were crafted, with Quel'Delar and Quel'Serrar being two of them.
• In Heroes of the Storm, Sonya, a character from Diablo, wields Quel'Serrar and  [Ashkandi, Greatsword of the Brotherhood] as part of her Wrath Sonya skin.
