Orweyna is the leader of the group of haranir scouts in Azj-Kahet, where she works to protect the great roots by containing the spread of Black Blood.[2][3] Fascinated by the mortal races, she shares their concerns about the threat posed by the Kaheti[1] and is willing to aid and work with adventurers, even if it means violating the oaths that forbid her people from interacting with strangers.[2][4] She has some kind of significant connection to the Radiant Song.[1][2] She can, with ease, "pick up on the harmony of this world" to restore her mind to reality if she becomes shifted into the Unseeming.[5]

History

At an unknown point in time, Orweyna led a group of haranir into Azj-Kahet in order to protect the great roots by containing the spread of Black Blood.[2]

Running toward the trapped Reckoning.

When the Arathi airship Reckoning was ambushed by Kaheti webs upon entry to Azj-Kahet, Orweyna summoned roots to help defend.[6] Adventurers sought her out in the hopes of finding allies in the hostile region, and she showed them the threat posed by Black Blood in the Breathing Pit (eliciting criticism from the other haranir for revealing herself to strangers),[2] before parting ways with them outside the City of Threads.[7]

Orweyna and Hannan established Wildcamp Ul'ar near the City of Threads and received aid from the Arathi to help them with supplies.[8] Orweyna invited adventurers to join her and the reluctant Hannan in trying to disrupt the Kaheti's Black Blood harvesting operation in the Twitching Gorge.[3] In the process, she detected a dissonance in the Radiant Song and followed the corruption to its source in the hopes of cleansing it.[9] The area in question, the Maddening Deep, proved too tainted to save, forcing Orweyna and Hannan to return to the Wildcamp to regroup.[10]

Lingering Shadows

As Orweyna and her group were investigating the Black Blood within Hallowfall, she was surprised to encounter the same adventurers who aided her in Azj-Kahet. With her people in danger,[11] she called upon them to help save her people. However, while her fellow haranir were grateful for the aid, they expressed discontent with constantly following her visions.[12] With their people safe and the enemies dealt with, Hannan had decided the time to talk to Orweyna about her ever-lasting determination to pursue this mission, no matter the cost.[13] For her part, Orweyna was not blind to the discontent but believed that they were close to understanding what to do about the Black Blood and felt that the importance of the mission went beyond Hallowfall and the Kingdom of Azj-Kahet. However, the haranir retreated to safer ground, and she was surprised that only Hannan followed and learned that the others could no longer break their tradition, and were returning to their home to seek forgiveness from the elders. Though she believed that their traditions were putting their home at risk, Orweyna did not fault them for their actions and encouraged them to put the blame on her alone, and promised that she would approach the elders in time. While unable to understand her conviction, Hannan admitted that he admired it, and the two parted on friendly terms.[14]

Witnessing the Worldsoul in a vision.

With the other Haranir returning home, Orweyna began to feel alone but resolved to continue her mission. She sensed that her goddess was near and asked adventurers to protect her while she meditated. As she meditated, she began to hear the striking of stone. Orweyna asked Azeroth where they should go and was granted a vision of the Black Blood and goblins working in the Ringing Deeps.[15] With adventurers by her side, Orweyna continued her mission, which led them to Camp Murroch in the Ringing Deeps.[16] As her allies worked with Trade Prince Monte Gazlowe to discover what the other goblins were up too, Orweyna followed unseen.[17] As they investigated, she called upon them to deal with the machines in the Abyssal Excavation, while she scouted on her own.[18] As she scouted, she saw things that she didn't understand, and accidentally activated a message from Jastor Gallywix, which attracted of the nearby goblins.[19] As she retreated, she made the decision to aid her allies against the Haywire MEK IV, revealing herself to both Gazlowe and Renzik "The Shiv" in the process.[20] She subsequently shared her discovery with them and the group made their way to Dornogal to report Gallywix's involvement to Alleria, who formally thanked for her assistance.[21]

Speaking to Magni Bronzebeard and his family.

Directed by Alleria, Orweyna approached Magni Bronzebeard and consulted him about visions from Azeroth. Orweyna explained that her visions had led her to leave her home and reveal herself, despite her people's protest. Magni, empathizing with her struggles, advised her not to carry the burden alone. He encouraged her to seek out others who would walk the path alongside her.[22]

After receiving word that the suspicious wall in the Ringing Deeps had been blown open, Orweyna and her allies set off to investigate. Upon their arrival, they discovered that a tollbooth had been established.[23] Seeking to fly under the radar, Gazlowe paid the toll for himself and his companions. As she was more accustomed to working from a distance, Orweyna was grateful to have Gazlowe and Renzik "The Shiv" at her side.[24] While Azeroth's champions created a distraction by attacking Darkfuse Enforcement, Orweyna and the others made their way to the southern mines to investigate.[25]

When the champion reunited with the group, they introduced them to Zirdo. As Zirdo guided the goblins to Gutterville, Orweyna and the champion took a closer look at the Black Blood in the Verdant Gutters.[26] While the champion dealt with the Black Blood creatures, Orweyna attacked the weak points in the pipeline. Their work was soon interrupted by Pamsy, who warned them that their actions were making things worse. Though cautious, Orweyna decided to follow Pamsy, joining her allies in Gutterville.[27]

While exploring the town, they discovered that Gallywix had used the promise of rewards to turn the goblins against each other, and that it had been Pamsy who blew up the wall. She explained that she did so as a cry for help, and her crew was slowly dying working with the Black Blood. However, upon hearing this, Zirdo blinded the group and fled to inform the Darkfuse in hopes of earning a reward.[28]

The group gave chase, but they were too late: Zirdo had already shared what he had learned, and Gozzic Cogcrane had slain members of Pamsy's crew in retaliation.[29] As the adventurer searched for the remaining members of her crew, Orweyna called upon them to destroy the blood horrors within the Writhing Fields.[30] Following Gozzic's death, Gazlowe directed Orweyna and the champion to shut down the pipes using chillburst canisters.[31]

Orweyna, Gazlowe, and Renzik in the Undermine.

Orweyna joined her allies in venturing to Undermine. Though she found the place deeply unsettling, she deduced that it was where her visions were leading her.[32] She soon departed from the group to track down the Black Blood, with Grimla Fizzlecrank warning her to keep a low profile.[33] Later, she reunited with her allies in the Venturewood,[34] where she revealed that Black Blood was everywhere in the city, hidden behind its noisy distractions, and that a shipment had recently been moved to Hovel Hill. As they explored the storehouse, they discovered the presence of ethereals in Undermine. Orweyna subsequently departed to inform Alleria of their findings.[35]

When the cartels of Undermine rose up against Gallywix, Orweyna returned to the city[36] and helped destroy Gallywix's Black Blood weapons and stockpiles.[37][38] As the people of Undermine rallied to the revolution, Orweyna noted how they teemed with hope and liveliness.[39] When they confronted Nikki the Fixer, Orweyna unleashed a wall of roots to hold off the Darkfuse. Following Nikki's death, Orweyna admitted that while she bore no sympathy for her, she didn't wish to see her torn apart. Instead, she chose to return Nikki’s body to the earth, so it might in some small way repay Azeroth for the harm she had done.[40]

After Gallywix's death, Orweyna’s visions led her to leave Undermine. As she said her goodbyes to Gazlowe, she was content that they ended the Black Blood weapons project, though Gazlowe suspected that Gallywix had backup plans for them. Inspired by his vision for his city's future, Orweyna realized she could no longer follow her own visions so narrowly. As she departed, Gazlowe reminded her that she would always have friends in Undermine, should she need them.[41]
