Wow, another year has gone by for WoW!
We wanted to thank you again for continuing to play World of Warcraft with us. In celebration of our 5th year online, we decided to bring back our first raid encounter, the black dragon Onyxia.
To help remember the event, you are now the proud owner of your very own Onyxian Whelping. We suggest you bring the little guy out whenever you can and say "Many whelps! Handle it!" Your friends won't mind. Honest.

Spawn of Onyxia, this young dragon has decided that it doesn't want to follow in its grandfathers' cataclysmic footsteps.
Dragonkin: Deals 50% additional damage on the next round after bringing a target's health below 50%.

Notes
- Idle animation is Deep Breath.
- While this pet remains exclusive to the anniversary achievement, the Spawn of Onyxia with the same model has since been added in Dustwallow Marsh in Mists of Pandaria with the introduction of the Pet Battle System.
Patch changes
Patch 11.0.0 (2024-07-23): Now binds to warband (was binds to account). 
Patch 8.1.5 (2019-03-12): Item quality changed from common to rare to match battle pet. 
Patch 3.2.2 (2009-09-22): Added.
