"Onyxia Wipe Animation" is a notable World of Warcraft fan video created and originally uploaded to YouTube by user Alachas1985 in April 2006. The video illustrates a pre-existing audio recording of an unsuccessful attempt by the European guild Wipe Club to defeat the raid boss Onyxia. In the recording, the raid leader Dives first gives his group profanity-laced instructions on the encounter, and then, when the group wipes due to mishandled adds, gets increasingly angry, threatens the group with DKP penalties, and questions their intelligence in very loud and colorful language.

The recording and animation gave rise to several memorable quotes such as "More dots", "Hit it very hard", "Handle it", and "50 DKP minus"—which instantly became popular memes in the World of Warcraft community[1]—and it has been referenced several times by Blizzard.

Video

The original animation was uploaded to YouTube by Alachas1985 in April 2006. In 2022, the creator uploaded a separate, higher-resolution version, but shortly after, both videos were removed by YouTube for violating the site's policy on violent and graphic content. In response, the creator uploaded a new, satirically titled "YouTube Approved Edition" of the video, and re-uploaded the original uncensored versions to a different platform called Rumble.

The "YouTube Approved" version was eventually age-restricted, so the video can't be watched directly on Warcraft Wiki.

Dives: Odd groups go to left, even groups go to right. That means: 1, 3, 5, 7 left. 2, 4, 6, 8 right. 7 and 8 are Whelp groups. Okay, listen the [expletive] up! You are going to DPS very, very slowly. Now! And by "slowly", I mean "[expletive] slow". If you get aggro, it means you're going to lose 50 DKP 'cause you didn't know what the [expletive] to do! And watch the [expletive] tail! If you get kicked into the Whelps, you lose 50 DKP again for not being where the [expletive] you were supposed to be.

There is no aggro reset. You only need... There's some [expletive] about an aggro reset when people don't know how to manage their aggro. After two Sunders you can basically start doing damage to it, assuming you know how aggro works and you don't over-aggro. OK, nuke it, dot it! Help the Whelp groups... When into phase 2, nuke it as hard as possible. You want to get it down as fast as possible. Have dots up on... on every time.[sic] Two rows, Shadow Word: Pain, warlock curses, Rends, everything. I don't see enough dots! More dots now! Come on, more DPS! Hit it like you mean it! You'll get time to rest in phase 3 while I'm getting the aggro.

Remember: save all your aggro-reducing abilities for when it lands. That means: Feign Death, uh, Vanish, uh, [expletive] Fade. Anything that you can use to reset aggro. At 40%, you will stop dots. Until then, you will throw more dots. Throw more dots. More dots. More dots. Come on, more dots. 'Kay, stop dots. Now hit it very hard, and very fast!

Lee, run to the center! Morgris, run to the center! Forestlight, run to the center! Saf, run to the center! Ices, run to the center! Whatever the [expletive] you do, do not stand next to other people! Morgris, center! Just heal me. Lee, do not c- Go away from the head, Lee. Go away! 'Kay, DPS... slowly. Come here, you [expletive] [expletive]! Watch the tail!

Dives: WHO THE [expletive] WAS THAT?! CRUSHIM, WHAT THE [expletive]?! WHELPS, LEFT SIDE! EVEN SIDE, MANY WHELPS! NOW! HANDLE IT! [expletive]! THAT'S A [expletive] 50 DKP MINUS! WHAT THE [expletive] WAS THAT [expletive]?! If you stand in the right [expletive] place, there is NO way you are going to [expletive] get into the [expletive] Whelps. Whatever [expletive] fear, Tail Swipe,[sic] whatever the [expletive]... OK? It's like one in a [expletive] million! From the [expletive] north corner, to the middle, into the [expletive] Whelp cave, it's not even [expletive] remotely imaginable!

Blizzard references

The recording and animation have been referenced several times in Blizzard games.

World of Warcraft Trading Card Game
  • The flavor text of Brood of Onyxia, a card from the Onyxia's Lair raid deck released in the same year as the animation, reads: "Whelps! Many whelps! Now! Handle it!"
World of Warcraft
Hearthstone
"Hit It Very Hard" in Hearthstone.
  • The Raid Leader minion in Hearthstone parodies the stereotype of an abusive raid leader, as exemplified by the Onyxia Wipe Animation. The minion's quotes are "Handle it!" and "Hit it very hard", and his flavor text reads: "That's a 50 DKP minus!"
  • Onyxia the Broodmother's flavor text reads: Throw more dots, throw more dots, more dots, more dots!
  • The Onyxia's Lair mini-set features several references to the video:
    • The warrior spell Hit It Very Hard. Its flavor text completes the quote: "...and very fast." It has an associated achievement named "Hit It Like You Mean It".
    • "Right Side, Many Cards", a demon hunter achievement.
    • "More Dots!", an achievement associated with the warlock spell Curse of Agony. The spell itself was originally named "More Dots" during development, but the name was deemed to be "too meta".[2]
  • Onyxia's Buddy minion in the Battlegrounds game mode is named Many Whelps.
StarCraft

Trivia

  • In 2019, YouTuber MadSeasonShow uploaded an inspired video titled "Ragnaros Wipe Animation", based on another Wipe Club audio recording (this time from Molten Core) and animated in the same style as Alachas' Onyxia Wipe Animation.
