Feign Death is a level 6 hunter ability. It causes the hunter to fall to the ground and pretend to be dead for up to 6 minutes. This clears the hunter's threat, leading mobs to either attack the next-highest target on their threat list or, if no other target is available, drop combat altogether. It also prevents nearby mobs from noticing the hunter as long as it remains active.
Hunter pets are not affected by this ability, instead they can be commanded to feign death with 
[Play Dead].
Tips and tactics
- Feign Death is immediately canceled by turning, moving, or taking any action.
[Camouflage] can be used straight from Feign Death.- Feign Death cannot be used to drop combat during boss encounters, unless you are the only player in combat.
- This ability will make the hunter drop from enemy targeting, forcing enemy players to re-target. It also cancels any in-progress spellcast targeting the hunter, and makes pets and minions stop attacking until they're ordered to attack again.
- While Feign Death is active, the hunter's health bar will appear empty and display the word "Dead" to other players. A quick way to tell a dead hunter from a feigning one is simply trying to attack them. If the game returns a "Can't attack that" error, the hunter is dead; if the attack lands, they're feigning.

- Feign Death is an epic Hunter spell in the Goblins vs Gnomes expansion of Hearthstone. The flavor text reads: "The hardest part about doing a "Feign Death" convincingly is learning how to make the right smell. It takes a lot of commitment."
- Feign Death is one of Rexxar's talents in Heroes of the Storm.
Patch changes
Patch 9.0.1 (2020-10-13): Now learned at level 6 (was 28). 
Patch 7.1.0 (2016-10-25): Now learned at level 28 (was 32). 
Patch 2.3.0 (2007-11-13): Feign Death will no longer remove the Hunter from combat during boss encounters. - Patch 2.0.1 (2006-12-05): Hunters will no longer die when Feign Death's duration expires.
Patch 1.7.0 (2005-09-13):
- Fixed bug where you couldn't right click to attack a hunter who is feigning death.
- Feign Death can no longer be resisted by players.
- Patch 1.2.0 (2004-12-18):
- Hunters can no longer sit while under the effects of Feign Death.
- Hunters will no longer show mana while they are under the effects of Feign Death.
- Patch 1.1.0 (2004-11-07): Duration increased.
