Nobles of Stromgarde
- For other uses, see Noble (disambiguation).
The nobles of Stromgarde are the ruling class of the kingdom of Stromgarde.
Around 1,200 BDP, after the departure of King Thoradin's ruling descendants, Strom was left in the hands of a few ruling families who were too stubborn to leave, including the Trollbanes, descendants of General Ignaeus Trollbane of the Empire of Arathor, who later ascended the throne as the royal family. These families rebuilt the crumbling infrastructure of the capital and renamed it Stromgarde. Although Stromgarde developed into a nation in its own right, the city would never regain its former glory.[1]
While the Trollbanes are the only known noble family, nevertheless, more did exist at least up until the Second War, and were present at Stromgarde when King Thoras Trollbane learned of Alterac's betrayal with the Old Horde.[2]
Stromgarde also deploys knights on the battlefields,[3][4][5] notably Knight-Captain Wrenn and Knight-Captain Aldrin, implying the presence of a gentry among the nation.
In modern times, the caretakers present in the crypt of Stromgarde are guarding family heirlooms of the nobility and the tomb of King Thoras Trollbane.
During the Noblegarden, which is meant to bring communities together to share the joy of life and friendship as the major spring celebration in Lordaeron,[6] it is customary for the nobles and lords of Stromgarde to hide coins, candy, and the occasional treasures within special eggs painted to look like wildflowers. These eggs are then scattered in the capital and towns of the kingdom for the citizenry to find.[7]
