However, he was eventually killed by Arthas and Kel'Thuzad.
Biography
Warcraft III
After Magroth survived the Scourge's campaign through Lordaeron, he joined the last bastions of human resistance. However, he was captured by Illidan Stormrage and his naga, and brought to the ruins of Dalaran. He was freed by Malfurion Stormrage and Maiev Shadowsong, and subsequently pledged himself to their cause and helped them destroy the Eye of Sargeras, thus bringing Illidan's destruction of Icecrown to a halt.[1]
He later joined Halahk the Lifebringer and Dagren the Orcslayer at the Lordaeron palace gardens in an effort to defend Alliance refugees who were coming under attack by Arthas Menethil's Scourge forces. During this defense, Magroth fell in battle against the death knight and his followers, but only after stubbornly repeating to Arthas that he and his fellow paladins would never give up.[2]
Legion
Even when consumed by Frostmourne, the soul of Magroth refused to give up the Light. After Frostmourne was shattered by Tirion Fordring and the Ashbringer, Magroth's spirit was freed, but his soul began to wander within Icecrown Citadel. During the third invasion of the Burning Legion, Frost death knights seeking to reforge the shards of Frostmourne into two new swords were forced to destroy Magroth's spirit in order to claim the shard that he was guarding.[3]
