Magic breakers[1] (also known as breakers[1][2]) are a mysterious type of ogre immune to specific or all types of magic. They are found almost exclusively in the Chamber of Nullification of Highmaul. There are several categories such as felbreakers[3] and firebreakers,[4] each being able to actively dampen or nullify their affiliated magic.

Magic breakers are molded through an extremely dangerous process. Breakers are chosen for resilience. They are scalded by heat, crushed by rocks, denied water, food, and air. First, they learn the signs and patterns of a school of magic. Then, they are struck by controlled infusions of that magic in the presence of a special Forger stone that can dampen magic. Eventually, some of their life essence is peeled away, and a small part of it is replaced by the magic branded into their very being, making them immune.

Ko'ragh was the only ogre with a near-complete immunity to all magic.

Imperator Mar'gok is the only one who can invoke the power of the Forger stone.[1]

During the events of the war in Draenor, Ko'ragh, Mar'gok, and a number of the breakers were killed by adventurers of the Horde and Alliance. Crulgorosh is known to have worked on empowering them, while Grand Magister Reglakk worked on imbuing armor with felbreaker magic in order to equip any soldier with their magic.[5][6]

Following the assault on Highmaul and the fall of the Gorian Empire, their current status is unknown. The Shadow Council employs Felborn Enforcers in Tanaan Jungle which use Nullification Barriers, similar to Ko'ragh's.
