Machine of Origination

The Machine of Origination is a massive device created by the mysterious First Ones and interred within their Sepulcher in the realm of Zereth Mortis in the Shadowlands. The Jailer Zovaal reactivated it using the world-soul of Azeroth as a power source and attempted to remake reality into one that served him, so it could stand against what he saw as a coming threat. However the Maw Walkers from Azeroth were able to defeat the Jailer on the verge of his great victory, shutting down the Machine of Origination once again.[1]

After what he witnessed in the Sepulcher, Firim believes that there must be a Zereth for each cosmic force, and within them, an inner sanctum akin to the Sepulcher, which may all be connected on some fundamental level. This connection is what the Jailer sought to exploit, with what he was doing with the Sepulcher cascading outward from one Zereth to the next, until all were dominated by his power, the heart of the Shadowlands acting as a doorway to the heart of each cosmic force in turn, one after another bound to his will. His worry is that if the Jailer's actions left behind even the most imperceptible of cracks in the cosmic pattern of the First Ones, that it might grow, until the balance is prone to be shattered by another, seventh force.[2]
