Lady Nightswood is a high elf banshee at the Shadow Vault in Icecrown. After the Knights of the Ebon Blade free her from the Lich King's control,[1] she joins them to take her revenge on Arthas.
History
Nightswood lived with her husband and children in the woods of Quel'Thalas until she was killed and turned during the Scourge invasion of Quel'Thalas.[2] She remained a member of the Scourge until adventurers freed her from the Lich King's control while helping the Knights of the Ebon Blade capture the Shadow Vault.[1] After possessing a vrykul known as The Bone Witch, Lady Nightswood sent the adventurers to sow chaos throughout Njorndar Village.[3] When the adventurers discovered that the vrykul had located a legendary vrykul warrior known as Iskalder, and that the val'kyr Vardmadra intended to personally judge his worthiness, Nightswood sent the adventurers to find the warrior first.[4] Nightswood then possessed Iskalder, and the adventurers challenged him to honorable combat under Vardmadra's watch. When Iskalder was slain, Nightswood left his body and possessed Vardmadra, taking her by surprise.[5]
Nightswood then directed the adventurers to challenge Overthane Balargarde, while she--in Vardmadra's body--oversaw the battle. The Lich King arrived in the midst of the battle, however, and--seeing through Nightswood's disguise--struck down Vardmadra himself. Nevertheless, Nightswood was delighted that their efforts had caused great damage to Jotunheim and robbed the Lich King of several of his champions. She then returned to possessing the Bone Witch to ensure that the vrykul threat would be eliminated.[6]
