The Jambani are a group of Zandalari trolls formerly led by the witch doctor known as Vol'jamba, a former student of Prophet Zul. Vol'jamba foresaw doom for the empire, which prompted him to do everything in his power to save his people. They took control of Tal'gurub and started to stockpile rations of food. His followers also enslaved Gurubashi inhabitants and undermined Rastakhan's rule.

Though they didn't know it, Vol'jamba's visions of the fall of Zuldazar were to be actually carried out by Zul himself, who had been secretly serving the Old Gods. However, Zul managed to manipulate the Speaker of the Horde into defeating Vol'jamba for him, telling them that Vol'jamba's visions were false and that their only goal was to topple the empire and become the new rulers of Zuldazar. Possessing a stronger gift of the Sight, Zul also managed to undo all of Vol'jamba's preparations and protections, resulting in his ultimate defeat.
