Greyheart Nether-Mages are Broken located in Serpentshrine Cavern.

Tactics

Nether-Mages can spawn in three types: fire, frost, or arcane. The type of mage may be determined by looking at their self-buff; each uses a damage buff of its particular school, as well as two different AOEs of that school. For example a fire mage has a self-cast buff that grants +350 fire spell power. These buffs may be stolen to boost your mages' damage and reduce the damage dealt by the mob. Furthermore, all Nether-Mages can use Blink to move to a random player, although it does not appear to be an aggro drop. They are vulnerable to sheeping and fear. They are immune to Hammer of Justice and [Curse of Tongues].

With the exception of the channeled [Rain of Fire] none of their abilities have cast times. However, they cannot cast while feared, and can be chain feared rather than tanked to prevent casting.

They are also immune to [Sap] and [Mind Control].

Abilities

Arcane mage
  • Spell arcane focusedpower.png Arcane Destruction — Increases an ally's arcane spell power by 50 for 30 min.
  • Spell nature chainlightning.png Arcane Lightning — Strikes an enemy with a lightning bolt that arcs to another nearby enemy. The spell affects up to 5 targets, inflicting greater Arcane damage to each successive target. Silences an enemy, preventing them from casting spells for 4 sec.
  • Spell arcane starfire.png Arcane Volley — Hurl magical bolts at nearby enemies, inflicting Arcane damage.
  • Spell arcane blink.png Blink — Teleports the caster to an enemy target. Also frees the caster from any bonds.
Fire mage
  • Spell fire elementaldevastation.png Fire Destruction — Increases an ally's spell damage by up to 350 for 30 min.
  • Spell fire flamebolt.png Fireball — Inflicts Fire damage to an enemy.
  • Spell shadow rainoffire.png Rain of Fire — Calls down a molten rain, burning all enemies in a selected area for 882 Fire damage every 2 sec. for 6 sec.
  • Spell fire soulburn.png Scorch — Scorches an enemy for Fire damage.
Frost mage
  • Spell frost icestorm.png Blizzard — Calls down a blizzard that lasts 8 sec., inflicting 882 Frost damage every 2 sec. to all enemies in a selected area.
  • Spell frost glacier.png Cone of Cold — Inflicts Frost damage to enemies in a cone in front of the caster, reducing their movement speed for 12 sec.
  • Spell frost manaburn.png Frost Destruction — Increases an ally's Frost spell power by 50 for 30 min.
  • Spell frost frostbolt02.png Frostbolt — Inflicts Frost damage to an enemy and reduces its movement speed for 4 sec.

The arcane mages tend to be the most dangerous. It is often wise to keep them mages CC'd until everything else is cleared.
