To kick off the new Warcraft games forum, what do people think the next Warcraft universe game will be (not including WoW expansions), and when? For example, Warcraft 4 (an RTS), World of Warcraft II, or perhaps something completely different? Kirkburn  talk  contr 15:31, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

What would WoW 2 be really? I can see more expansions, but I can't really imagine a "WoW 2" (besides the fact that the game client is already version 3.1.1). With that in mind, probably an RTS. --Pcj (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 15:34, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
So not a Warcraft platformer then? With Varian Wrynn heroically fighting his way through arena fights, across Kalimdor, the Eastern Kingdoms and finally ending up in Northrend? ;) I agree though, WoW 2 would have to be a long way off, once WoW original has really reached the end of it's life. It could be set in a different time period, of course. Kirkburn  talk  contr 15:42, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
It could be nice to have Warcraft: Origins. I started creating a W3 mod with that name, but didn't finish it. I would like to play the past of Warcraft without weird time travel.
The 4 campaigns I was going to make where:
-The war between troll and Aqir
-The War of the Ancients
-The War of the Shifting Sands
-The attacks from Neptulon to the Gurubashi Empire
And we have a lot more, like the War of the Three Hammers, The Slaughter of the Draenei, The Ordering of Azeroth, the War of the Spider... and some other late battles that take place during WoW.
Aside from that, I would love to have an in-game 3d tactic map, to play high scale battles around the entire world. In-game is in-game, not a damn menu, so you can make your own tactic map.

The Return of Warcraft Adventures. DO IT! IconSmall ArcaneGuardian.gifMantriox/T/C 21:07, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
There is so much present-time lore that it really needs an RTS game to be unleashed. Now, to the facts:
  • There is a new Blizzard game in production that is likely to be an RTS - the job openings require people who can program AI which creates strategies and manages resourses.
  • In the epilogue of the novel Arthas: Rise of the Lich King, Ner'zhul shows Arthas visions that seem to be of the future and are surely to be explored by some kind of Warcraft media - for example a vision in which an ocean city rises from the depths and onto the surface, visions of the Emerald Nightmare and Malfurion and some other interestin visions. It would be great to have any of these in a Warcraft IV. And, you know, no matter how great is World of Warcraft, true lore heroes are born in the Warcraft strategies.Dakovski (talk) 05:53, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

For a long time I've wanted a Warcraft fighting game. There are so many interesting lore characters, and I would just love to have them fight each other, SSB-style. I think I'll post some of my ideas here. INV Misc Orb 04.pngXavius, the Satyr Lord 07:39, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

I really like the Origins idea, would be an awesome way to relive some of Azeroth's most epic battles from a game point of view. I would still prefer Warcraft IV though, I enjoy the storylines the most, and "character goes crazy, kill them" is getting rather tiresome. Leave the big fights to the major lore characters, we have no place in thier activities.... Max Krist (talk) 08:36, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

I think I read that Blizzard had an idea of doing a Warcraft IV (RTS) in the same format as Starcraft II or something. They said it would be something like a core story with two expansions. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 02:32, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
If that is true, then I will be a very happy satyr. You remember where it was you read it? INV Misc Orb 04.pngXavius, the Satyr Lord 07:54, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
I think Warcraft IV talks about it being mentioned at BlizzCon. Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 09:29, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh i so hope Blizz leaves the money making machine which is WoW and returns to a good old story based RTS... Come to me Warcraft IV! i am waiting! Max Krist (talk) 12:34, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Well, about the World of Warcraft 2, they don't have plans. Frank Pearce said that WoW 2 is "not gonna happen", he says, "until Blizzard needs a whole new framework, and that's not going to happen for a long time".[1] About the Warcraft IV that would be cool. Benitoperezgaldos (talk) 18:05, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

I wonder what the average age is of an MMO/MMORPG before they need to come out with a "Part 2"? WoW came out in November 23, 2004, BC came out in January 16, 2007, and WotLK came out in November 13, 2008 — so it is about 4 1/2 years old now. On a side note, going by the average of how long it took for both expansions to come out, the "third" expansion should come out 24 months after WotLK was released — which would be around November of 2010. :) Rolandius Paladin.gif (talk - contr) 05:25, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
Interesting thoughts Rolandius, personaly i don't see a need to make a WoW 2, nothing wrong with the current one, only instance where i think they would do it is if they were to make flying mounts usuable in ALL of Azeroth, though that would still be better as an expansion... lol knowing Blizz, the next expansion on't be out till late 2011 at a guess. Max Krist (talk) 13:04, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
They should polish up WoW. There are a lot blank spaces lore-wise, and a lot of things with huge potential that were utterly ignored. Once they quit making expansions, they should start remaking the game slowly, by adding new stuff that should improve the existing content without retconing it.

Another cool think could be a new expansion for Warcraft III, but thats very unlikely to happen. Benitoperezgaldos (talk) 02:59, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Another interesting idea is to remake past Warcraft games into a World of Warcraft style. Imagine if Blizzard did everything from Warcraft 3 into a format just like N [25-30] The Hunter and the Prince. Imagine controlling Grommash in a fight with Mannoroth or Arthas fighting Uther/Antonidas/Anasterian. The individual levels from Warcraft 3 could be replayed with a phasing system similar to what is currently in WoW. Twilight of the Gods was redone as the Battle for Mount Hyjal raid so why can't everything else be done that way.AhotahThunderhorn (talk) 02:56, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

If Warcraft IV was made would WoW Adapt to it? Or would Blizzard shut WoW down for the official sequel? (Either full server closing, [doubt it, big money] or a close off to new content.) And If WoW adapted to it would Warcraft IV events be played out in WoW? If so, would it follow the timeline of Warcraft IV? (IE: The days/weeks/months it takes to travel and battle in Warcfrat III) --Sir Tristram (talk) 20:44, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

If they ever decide to do a Warcraft 4, it would be a long time from now, as they still have the Starcraft 2 xpaks (which will be just as big as the first). If WoW is still going strong, and I think it will be, I doubt another Warcraft RTS would be introduced... but if it is, I'm sure the MMO would eventually be updated to match the new setting. These were more intended to bring about thought, not direct questions, as they cannot be answered until the events happen. But Kudos for thinking about it.--IconSmall Falric.gif Sir Tristram (Speak, mortal. My Conquests.) 02:24, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Blizzard would not have two competing RTS games out at the same time, unless they want to compete with themselves. StarCraft II has a DotA map with Warcraft-based models as it is, and you can import WoW models into StarCraft II's files with minimal hassle (or so I have read...). Warcraft RTS fans can be sated. If Warcraft IV does come out, I (baselessly) assume that it will be set after the final raid of WoW, negating the necessity of updating WoW to match Warcraft IV. A bit of possibly relevant trivia: Later official custom multiplayer maps released by Blizz for Warcraft III often had World of Warcraft graphics in the title images.--SWM2448 02:44, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
