Hey guys. I'm new in these parts, but I have edited other wikis in the past. I was planning to add information from Tides of Darkness to the specific battles of the Second War. Currently, it seems that most articles on the Second War reflect only the Warcraft II levels. I wanted to run these ideas by you guys before doing anythign too drastic. What I envision is for most of these articles to have separate sections, one for the RTS game version and one for the (usually much different) novel version. If possible, perhaps we could have separate template boxes for the more drastic examples, such as Crestfall. This is what I have in mind for adding:

  • Siege of Ironforge (or Invasion of Khaz Modan)
Suggestion: Create new article. I know there's a Second War catapult in the Ironforge museum; that could be used for an image.
  • Battle of the Hinterlands (or Battle of Aerie Peak)
    Suggestion: Create new article
  • Siege of Capital City
Suggestion: Current article on The Fall of Lordaeron merges information from the Warcraft II level and ToD. But maybe we should separate the information into different sections of the article?
  • Closing of the Alterac Passes
  • Occupation of Alterac
Suggestion: Add new section in Betrayal and the Destruction of Alterac that covers these events and explains that in most sources, Alterac and its castle weren't destroyed?
  • Battle of the Broken Isles
Suggestion: Clarify the differences between the two versions, instead of combining their elements? (so we don't have to say the Blackrock and Black Tooth Grin were both there, or that there was a decoy Gul'dan and Cho'gall hanging around)
  • Assault on Blackrock Spire
  • Destruction of the Dark Portal
Suggestion: These seem fine to me. The RTS version and current versions seem to be relatively similar.

What do you guys think? Thanks in advance! --BaronGrackle (talk) 19:46, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Adding sections about missions being referenced or described in later works would be nice.--SWM2448 21:03, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Hey guys, sorry for necroing an old topic but it seems related to what I want to ask. So lately I've been overhauling everything I can related to Warcraft II, and I noticed a large discrepancy toward how the Second War battles are described. Some battles, such as the Siege of Ironforge, Rescue of Zul'jin and Assault on Hillsbrad are described in their own pages, while other battles are just described in the matching Warcraft missions, see The Fall of Lordaeron (WC2 Orc).

What do you guys think about it? The way I see it, for battles that are not mentioned in Warcraft II (such as the Siege of Ironforge) or that are very different from their Warcraft II version, they should have their own page, while battles that are relatively similar to how they are played in their Warcraft II versions we can keep the lore in the matching missions pages. Personally, I'd like to see lore and mission articles distinguished. Not sure how Warcraft II missions are detailed but aren't they a mess with the current canon (when compared to books)? Also there is the siege of Dalaran mission page yet I think it would be better to have a separate lore page for it that would cover the Warcraft III mission, small tidbit about Jaina and Sylvanas from Rise of the Lich King and the Frozen Throne mission as aftermath section. I think we should just wait for Chronicles 2 to give us the final and definitive version of what happened during the two first wars ... Right now it's a mess to know what is exactly canon. Xporc (talk) 21:03, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
